Job Description
Assistant Director — KLA Schools of Oakleaf (Opening June 2026) KLA Schools of Oakleaf is opening in Orange Park, FL in June 2026, and we're hiring an Assistant Director to help lead our launch. This is a unique opportunity to join a brand-new school from the ground up — partnering with the School Director to build the team, set the operational foundation, and welcome our first families. About the Role The Assistant Director supports the School Director in all administrative, operational, and personnel matters, and steps into the School Director's role in their absence. This is a hands-on leadership position that requires strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and a deep commitment to early childhood education. From time to time, the Assistant Director may be asked to take on special projects or other work important to the operation of KLA Schools.
Reports to:
School Director, KLA Schools of Oakleaf Operations & Administration Maintain a safe, nurturing environment where children grow mentally, physically, socially, and academically Keep school records, files, and enrollment data current and accurate in KLA Schools systems Maintain children's enrollment, attendance, and starting/termination records Prepare children's sign-in sheets as needed Handle phone calls, visitors, and parent inquiries promptly and professionally Operate and maintain office equipment Communicate KLA Schools policies clearly to parents Build and maintain relationships with community agencies and partners Administer corporate operating software and maintain accurate record-keeping and data-retrieval systems Help develop and implement school policies and procedures Ensure compliance with all Florida DCF, federal, state, and local childcare regulations Financial Administration Monitor and coordinate accounts receivable and accounts payable with corporate headquarters Review timesheets each pay period and submit totals to corporate Coordinate purchases and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment Develop inventory control practices for both expendable supplies and nonexpendable equipment Personnel Administration Help develop and refine the school's administrative structure Ensure written policies and practices are followed throughout the school Maintain accurate, up-to-date personnel records and process record changes Monitor staff personal day requests Support the School Director with new-staff orientation, including review of job descriptions, staff rules, and personnel policies Partner with the School Director to ensure substitutes are available when needed Supervision Supervise as directed by the School Director Supervise maintenance personnel and the food service contractor Assist the School Director with ratio compliance Serve as a resource for head teachers, assistant teachers, and after-school teachers Job Requirements Strong judgment in delegating responsibility Clear communication, both prepared and extemporaneous Professionalism, composure under pressure, and high personal integrity Genuine sensitivity to the needs of children, parents, and staff, and the ability to bring a joyful approach to working with children Ability to create an atmosphere of positive, appropriate discipline Effective communication with parents and staff Strict adherence to all health, safety, and operating procedures outlined by KLA Schools Educational Requirements 18 years or older High school diploma required; associate's degree or higher preferred Knowledge of early childhood education preferred Background in customer service and bookkeeping preferred Florida DCF 45-Hour Childcare Training (or willingness to complete prior to start) Participation in annual early childhood training Successful completion of all background screening requirements Commitment to following state, federal, and KLA Schools guidelines Health & Physical Requirements Ability to frequently lift, move, or hold children up to 40 pounds Ability to occasionally lift weight up to 40 pounds Ability to supervise and interact with children outdoors in varied weather conditions for extended periods Full range of motion to lift, reach, squat, climb, sit, and fully participate in classroom activities Immediate and appropriate response to multiple or unexpected situations or emergencies Mental and physical alertness sufficient to perform all essential job duties Benefits Health, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance Paid time off Employee assistance program Employee discount Tuition reimbursement Professional development assistance Referral programWork Location:
