Administrative Specialist IV Andrew Young School of Policy Studies Georgia State University Department of Economics The Department of Economics is housed within the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. The department features innovative research resources, including the Experimental Economics Laboratory, and maintains a strong multidisciplinary approach to policy analysis. Economics instruction at the Andrew Young School is distinguished by its emphasis on policy and evaluation. Our faculty specializes in public economics, environ­mental and labor economics, urban and regional economics, the eco­nomics of education and experimental methods, with growing emphasis on the empirical evaluation of public policies and programs. HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
Reporting directly to the Department Chair of Economics, the Administrative Specialist IV provides comprehensive administrative, human resources, and operational support for the Economics Department at Andrew School of Policy Studies. This position oversees staff supervision and personnel processes, coordinates faculty HR operations, and serves as the department's primary office and building contact to ensure efficient daily operations. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced academic environment. The essential duties and responsibilities of the Administrative Specialist IV are the following: Supervision of staff: Hiring, terminating, training, approving leave, completes annual evaluation and any disciplinary actions, stipend entry, fills out position review forms and requests for title changes, enters intems in Taleo, places ads as needed, orientation of new hires, assigns office space and equipment supervises Admin Spec-Academic and Admin Spec-Admin and any affiliated student assistants, and other duties as needed.
HR for faculty:
Annually sets up the faculty activity grid, updates SOD HR portion, enters MSS transactions for hires, terminations, data updates, & supplemental pay, completes visa requests in iStart, handles visiting scholar paperwork, point of contact for LOA, FMLA, TCS, handles admin portion of promotion and tenure process, Third Year reviews and Cumulative Reviews for all faculty, effort reporting, faculty recruiting contact, place job ads, maintains personnel files, set up interviews, PTI MSS transactions and paperwork, GRA hire MSS transactions and paperwork, coordinates student letters of recommendation, GRA desk assignments, hiring of sponsored employees for grants, assists Dept Chair with any merit allocations, and other duties as needed.
Office and Building Contact:
Assigns office space, coordinates computers and furniture for offices, maintains equipment logs, key control authority, makes sure all lists are updated on website and in office, parking questions, fire drill coordinator, oversees office cleanliness, make sure all EEOE documents are posted in visible areas, maintains front desk, and other duties as needed.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and four years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience.
