The Transformation Principal serves as the administrative leader of the school and assumes full responsibility for all aspects of the school program. This role demands a results-driven, instructionally focused leader committed to driving significant and sustainable improvement in student achievement in a high-need turnaround environment. The Transformation Principal builds a high-performing instructional team through rigorous teacher development, meaningful coaching, and a relentless focus on classroom practice, while establishing a school culture grounded in high expectations and accountability. Working in close partnership with the principal supervisor and district departments, this leader uses data purposefully to accelerate growth for all students and ensures full compliance with federal, state, and district policies.REPORTS TO

Eight (8) years of successful experience in education, preferably including experience in high-need or turnaround school settings and direct familiarity with middle grades learning environments. Three (3) years of principal experience with demonstrated results in improving student achievement, closing performance gaps, and building teacher effectiveness, preferably in a middle grades setting. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Licenses, Certifications, and other RequirementsRequired:
Eligible for Georgia Leadership certification, Tier II. Willing to enroll and pursue additional graduate course work in administration and supervision. Internal candidates must not be on a professional development plan at the time of application. Duties and Responsibilities Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates the school's instructional program across the middle grades with a relentless focus on accelerating student achievement, closing performance gaps, and preparing every student for high school readiness. Designs and implements targeted, evidence-based programs to meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of early adolescent learners, emphasizing inclusion and equitable access for all students, including those with special needs. Supervises instructional staff in curriculum design, delivery, and alignment to ensure high expectations and rigorous, grade-appropriate standards are present in every classroom, every day across all middle grades content areas. Coordinates services of resource personnel to strengthen and support classroom instruction and improve outcomes for all students. Leverages school system and community resources to enhance and sustain high-quality educational programs that directly support student achievement and college and career readiness at the middle grades level. Oversees accurate student data management and ensures data is consistently and effectively used to drive instructional decisions, identify gaps, and accelerate student growth across all grade levels and subgroups. Provides leadership in interpreting, reporting, and acting on student performance data to inform school improvement planning and hold the instructional team accountable for results across all middle grades content areas. Develops the master schedule and class matrix to maximize instructional time, optimize use of space, and ensure coherent and purposeful learning progressions aligned to middle grades standards and high school transition expectations. Attends and actively supports student achievement events and school-sponsored activities, including athletic events, that reinforce a culture of high expectations and celebrate growth for all students. Recruits, assigns, develops, and evaluates instructional and support staff with a focus on building a high-performing team capable of delivering results with early adolescent learners in a turnaround environment. Addresses staff performance and behavioral issues promptly, decisively, and in alignment with district policy, ensuring all adults in the building are held to high professional standards. Conducts purposeful staff meetings to communicate policies, updates, and initiatives in ways that build shared ownership and align the team around the school's transformation goals. Designs and leads a robust teacher development system, including structured coaching cycles, content-specific professional learning communities, and targeted, actionable feedback that directly improves instructional practice and student results across all middle grades subject areas. Plans, implements, and monitors all professional learning opportunities for staff to ensure that thriving Professional Learning Communities are operational and that all staff receive the differentiated support needed to grow their practice and improve outcomes for students. Promotes meaningful parent and community engagement through the PTA and strategic partnerships that support student learning and the school's transformation mission, recognizing the unique role families play in supporting early adolescent development. Ensures effective communication and productive conferences between teachers and parents that advance student growth, build family trust, and reinforce high expectations at home and school. Pursues ongoing professional development and personal leadership growth to model continuous improvement and remain current in turnaround strategies, middle grades best practices, and adolescent literacy and numeracy development. Maintains high standards for student conduct, attendance, and health as foundational conditions for a safe and productive learning environment, with age-appropriate approaches that reflect the developmental needs of early adolescents. Establishes clear and consistent guidelines for student conduct and maintains discipline in accordance with due process and the rights of all students, using restorative and proactive approaches that keep students engaged and in the classroom. Oversees school safety, emergency preparedness, and discipline procedures to maintain a secure, structured environment where learning and growth can thrive. Coordinates support services including maintenance, transportation, security, food services, recreational programs, and extracurricular activities to ensure operational stability in service of the instructional mission. Leads wellness and safety initiatives, including drills and safety training, to protect students and staff. Serves as the financial officer of the school and is accountable for all financial operations, including payroll and timekeeping, purchasing and purchasing cards, fixed asset inventory, and student activity funds, ensuring resources are strategically aligned to transformation priorities and student achievement goals. Requisitions, distributes, and maintains inventories of all materials, supplies, and equipment necessary to support high-quality instruction and effective school operations. Participates in required district and administrative meetings, representing the school and advocating for the resources and support needed to sustain transformation progress. Reports school activities, challenges, and progress to district leadership with transparency and a solution-oriented mindset. Utilizes school-based management processes for continuous improvement, ensuring systems and structures support both teacher effectiveness and student success across all middle grades. Ensures compliance with Board policies, ethical standards, and all applicable legal regulations. Ensures the overall safety and security of the school building. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of federal, state, and local education laws, including Title I, IDEA, and ADA compliance, and their specific application in turnaround school contexts. Knowledge of current educational trends, research, and evidence-based school leadership models proven to accelerate student achievement, with particular emphasis on middle grades literacy, numeracy, and content-area instructional practice. Knowledge of early adolescent development and the ability to lead a school that effectively meets the distinct academic, social, and emotional needs of middle grades learners while maintaining a clear focus on high school readiness. Knowledge of high-leverage instructional practices, adult learning theory, and effective coaching frameworks that build teacher capacity across multiple content areas and drive measurable classroom results. Knowledge of student discipline policies, behavior management frameworks, and due process requirements that support a structured, positive learning environment appropriate for middle grades students. Knowledge of school finance, budgeting, procurement, and inventory management, with the ability to align resources to instructional priorities. Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, lead change, and sustain momentum in a complex turnaround environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building trust and driving alignment with staff, students, parents, and the community. Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate difficult conversations and make courageous decisions in service of students. Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and high-expectations school climate and culture where all students and staff are valued and held accountable. Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with staff, families, and community partners in support of the school's transformation goals. Ability to manage staff performance, conduct meaningful evaluations, and deliver constructive, growth-oriented feedback that strengthens instructional practice across grade levels and content areas. Ability to make timely, informed decisions grounded in data, research, and stakeholder input with a clear and unwavering focus on improving student outcomes. Ability to understand and communicate oral and written information clearly and effectively across diverse audiences. Ability to work collaboratively with district administrators and school personnel to advance shared goals and sustain a culture of continuous improvement. Terms of Employment Incumbents will receive an annual contract. The work calendar will be 229 days. Savannah-Chatham County Public School System has the right to revise this job description at any time and it does not in any way represent a contract of employment. Incumbents will be considered "at will" and appropriate pay will be determined based on the assigned pay grade and allowable experience.
