2026-01070 Description •Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University of Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular Board of Regents (BOR) and Civil Service employees. Casual Hire temporary appointment is expected to begin June 2026, or soon thereafter. Not to exceed 89 days. Duties Provide administrative staff support for the Social Sciences Division Chair and all associated programs and departments. Serve as the primary front-office contact, handling walk-in inquiries, answering phones, and managing routine office errands. Performs entry-level fiscal support functions. Assist with monitoring expenditures and encumbrances on a regular basis. Assists with contacting vendors and obtaining quotations for purchases. Organize and manage program supplies and inventory, including maintaining necessary forms and spreadsheets. Assists with the supervision of student workers, which includes training and coordinating schedules. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 0 years of professional work experience Demonstrated knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel) and Google Suite (e.g., Docs, sheets). Familiarity with administrative functions in an office setting Desirable Qualifications Previous experience working in an academic office setting Familiarity with academic/student information systems such as STAR, BANNER, Student Access or similar systems. Experience recruiting and on-boarding student employees, including posting of student jobs on student employment system (SECE), entering student data, assisting in completion of forms, reviewing time sheets, and follow up tasks related to SECE.
