Job Title:
Assistant High School Principal Reports to: Building Pricipal
REQUIRED
Master's degree or enrolled in a Master's degree program in administration and supervision. At least five years of successful experience as a classroom teacher or administrator Must hold a current Administrator License or obtain a conditional prior to starting Holds an evaluator approval certification
DESIRED:
Previous experience in similar position or other building leadership roles Experience leading and managing professional learning communities Expertise in leading professional development Demonstrated instructional leadership skills Experience in teaching and leading in a system with standards referenced grading Strong skills working with a wide variety of student needs and behaviors
INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists the High School Principal with student registration and scheduling procedures. Assists in the preparation and distribution of the student handbook. Coordinates, with the High School Principal, the new student orientation program for grades 9-12. Coordinates field trips for grades 9-12. Shares responsibility with the principal for graduation exercises. Coordinates the Special Education Program for grades 9-12. Coordinates The Learning Center (TLC) Program.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts staff evaluation under direction of high school principal. Remains abreast of educational developments by maintaining professional memberships and contacts. Assists the principal in staff assignments. Represents the Boone Community School District at Conference, District, State and National meetings as directed by the principal.
BUILDING MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Assumes duties of the principal in the absence of the principal. Responsible for student attendance, attendance office and attendance procedures for grades 9-12. Handles student referrals and discipline for grades 9-12. Develops and implements study hall procedures for grades 9-12. Coordinates referrals of students to outside agencies for grades 9-12. Develops community contacts and works with community organizations. Responsible for student driving, parking and traffic control. Develops and implements student visitor procedures for grades 9-12. Develops and monitors building disaster procedures. Coordinates school involvement with activity vendors for grades 9-12. Coordinates the services of the School Resource Officer. Such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building Principal.
