Job Description Position:
High School Principal Reports to : District Superintendent and/or designee
Qualifications/Skills:
PEL with aGeneral Administrative Endorsement; Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience preferred; Previous experience working with dual language/bilingual programming preferred.

Month Employee Supervision :
Certified and Non-Certified Staff, Educational Support Personnel, Assistant Principals, Athletic Director and Deans Basic Function:
Under the direction of the Superintendent and/or designee his/her primary responsibility is for the improvement of instruction and that a majority of that time be spent on curriculum and staff development. Provides supervision of the school in a manner that it may operate smoothly and provide a safe and collaborative environment for all learners to thrive.
Performance Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership:
Be the instructional leader of the building by implementing the state standards and district and school improvement plan Regularly review and use data to improve the learning environment and student outcomes Coordinate the training and professional development (or learning) of the staff Foster a collaborative PLC culture focused on continuous improvement and student results. Maintain building level committees to improve instruction Monitor the implementation of policies as they pertain to school code, board policies, and administrative regulations for high school.
Communications Management:
Communicate with the staff through staff meetings, handbooks and other written or verbal communication to clarify all school operations and expectations. Advise the Superintendent or designee of the needs of the school, number of teachers required, material, and textbooks, etc. Maintain ongoing and effective communication with parents/guardians. Create and maintain relationships with community and parent organizations.
Personnel Management:
Supervise all school personnel and the building operations Conduct interviews and recommend employment for prospective applicants for vacancies. Make recommendations to the administration regarding collective bargaining negotiations. Orient new employees to building routines and procedures. Perform evaluations of certified and non-certified staff pursuant to the district evaluation plans. Recommend to the Superintendent and school board non-renewal, remediation and/or dismissal of certified and non-certified staff. Recommend to the Superintendent and school board disciplinary actions regarding certified and non-certified staff. Conduct staff meetings to keep staff informed of policy changes, new programs, etc.
Student Management:
Be responsible for the registration of all children and assign them to classes. Establish guidelines for proper student conduct and maintain student discipline in coordination with the district policy and procedures for student discipline. Confer with parents as the need arises concerning the progress or difficulties of their children. Oversees supervision coordination of all extra curricular activities.
Organizational Management:
Maintain such records as may be necessary for the accurate accounting for the progress of each child, results of tests, health records, etc. including maintenance of student records deemed temporary and permanent. Prepare all reports required by local, state and federal offices. Maintain all attendance records of students, as well as certificated and non-certificated staff. Implement policies, rules and regulations of the district Implement the negotiated contracts between the district and employees. Coordinate the development of the master schedule.
Safety and Crisis Properties Management:
Be responsible for the building whenever it is in use, ensuring the facility is safe for students, staff, and visitors in compliance with life/safety requirements. Direct the development, implementation, and annual review of the school's safety plan, ensuring all staff are trained in emergency preparedness and crisis management protocols.
Financial/Business Management:
Oversee and monitor the building budget. Supervise the custody of all school activity accounts.
District Wide Obligations:
Serve on district committees. Participate in district wide principal meetings and other meetings as required or appropriate. Perform other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.
