06/11/2026 Lake Forest High School District 115 is seeking a 10 month, 7.5 hr/day Department Assistant I to the Dean's Office.
Description:
The department assistant is the first person people see when entering the West Commons. The assistant is welcoming, friendly, and willing to help all stakeholders while processing attendance and allowing entry into the building.
Salary and Benefits:
Base Starting Rate
  • $21.80/Hour Personal and Sick Day Leave provided Reimbursement
  • up to $1300 annually for tuition reimbursement Insurance
  • 100% district paid Single HMO Health (other options also available) Retirement
  • IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund)

Qualifications:
Education, Experience, Licensure High School Diploma or equivalent Previous office experience Experience with office and school-based management systems

Essential Functions:
Acts as the first point of contact with parents for the parent portal PowerSchool reporting Enters full day attendance data into the student data system Enters partial day attendance data into the student data system Assists deans in managing the daily procedural tasks: run skip list, send undetermined absence notices, send progress cards Coordinates and enters absences from Health Services Creates student passes Manages student sign in/out register at the West Commons' Attendance Office Manages senior send off campus permissions (Senior Privilege) Sends out end of the day report for unreported all day absences (3 or more classes) Performs other job related duties as assigned by direct supervisor Adheres to Board of Education policies and procedures Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, drive, talk, hear, and reach. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and lift. Repetitive motions are required, especially for keyboarding which involves substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The employee must lift and/or move up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly subject to inside environmental conditions and is subject to noises associated with both office and educational environments.
