To act as both instructional leader and as the physical plant manager, so as to promote a quality educational program in a safe and comfortable environment.Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Takes primary responsibility for the overall management, administration and supervision of all personnel and activities assigned to or taking place within their school building and grounds. 2. Assigns workstations to all personnel servicing the students, programs, or facilities of the school. 3. Schedules all activities for maximum instructional benefit. 4. Arranges for the acquiring, storage, inventory, accounting, and distribution of all supplies or equipment needed by building staff to carry out their assignments. 5. Supervises the arrival and departure of students to and from school, including those who walk or ride the school bus. 6. Arranges for staff to assist in the supervision of students at recess and during lunch. 7. Assists in the scheduling of meetings between parents and staff, that promote the exchanging of information about student progress or clarifies their view on the functions of the school. 8. Assists teachers with securing transportation for student field trips. 9. Assists and monitors organizations, approved by the Board of Education, to ensure that the activities are properly scheduled, the building properly cared for and their needs are taken care of while in the school. 10. Assumes responsibility for the proper orientation of newly assigned staff and assists in their training. 11. Conducts observations, both formal and informal, on the performance of all staff assigned to the school, as required by board policies. 12. Informs the Superintendent of Schools, of any problems, concerns, or suggestions that might impact on the operation of the school. 13. Supervise the maintenance and accuracy of all official records entrusted to the records custodian of the school. 14. Assists with the transmission of information to authorized agencies. 15. Assists in the scheduling of student staffing, so that appropriate staff members can be in attendance. 16. Works closely with the Director of Instructional Services, Chief Business Official, Director of Special Education, Director of Technology, Human Resources Coordinator, and the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds in order to coordinate services within the school and on the school grounds. 17. Generates reports, studies, or projections relating to the operation of the school, as requested by the Superintendent of Schools. 18. Assumes responsibility for all programs within their building. 19. Communicates through newsletters, flyers, bulletins, etc., that keep teachers, students, and parents informed of activities relating to the school. 20. Promotes successful educational experiences within the school, which includes maintaining proper order and discipline. 21. Works closely with computer teachers to ensure that technology is being incorporated into the instructional program. 22. Develops, coordinates, and supervises all risk management programs for district personnel designed to ensure the safety of all students/staff, while on school property. 23. Guards the confidentiality of all information placed in charge of their office. Breach of this trust shall be grounds for dismissal. 24. Performs such other duties, assignments and tasks as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.Minimum Qualification:
1. Possess a valid Illinois Professional Educator's License (PEL) with an administrative endorsement. 2. Have a minimum of three years of successful experience as a classroom teacher. 3. Have a minimum of three years of successful experience as a school administrator. 4. Possess a valid PERA certification for teacher and principal evaluations. 5. Have additional qualifications as the Board may deem appropriate.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
11 months per year. Salary and other benefits as established by the Board of Education.Additional Notes:
