Building Principal Purpose/Function:
The purpose of the elementary assistant principal position is to assist the school principal in the overall administration of the school instructional program and building level operations.

Administrator's License Major Responsibilities/Duties:
Instructional Management Participates in the development and evaluation of education programs. School/Organizational Climate Promote and help maintain a positive and effective learning environment. Communicate effectively with students and staff. Collaborate with school staff on student discipline and social-emotional needs. Personnel Management Assist building principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new building staff. For those teachers designated by the principal, the assistant principal shall conduct effective teacher evaluations in accordance with the district instructional evaluation plan. Assists with substitute teacher acquisition and placement on a daily basis. Administration/Facilities Management Supervise operations in the principal's absence. Help plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activities. Plan and coordinate all school drills and safety activities. Help supervise the daily use of the school facility for both school and non-school purposes. Help coordinate transportation with the Dean Student Management Use Trust-Based Relational Interventions (TBRI) Ensure adequate supervision of students at all times. Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, affording due process to the rights of students. Professional Growth and Development Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment. School/Community Relations Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs. Communicate and collaborate with parents and other community members regarding school activities and events. Supervisory Responsibilities Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with the school principal. Supervise teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, and other school personnel as assigned. This supervisory responsibility would include authority to make effective directives to these employees.
