Role Overview:
 As the Director of Juvenile Education, you will provide oversight to the education programs in the juvenile facility schools, including compliance with State and Federal mandates related to the education of incarcerated youth. You will provide direct oversight to the education programming for the Youth Incarcerated as Adults and calculate and approve annual salary adjustments for the IDOE licensed staff working in IDOC juvenile facilities. 
Salary:
The salary for this position traditionally starts between $87,210.00 -$123,812.00 and is commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package. A Day in the
Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:

Provide leadership for all district operations and educational programs, which included three juvenile correctional schools located in LaPorte, Logansport, and Pendleton.

Work collaboratively with the Indiana Department of Correction, state agencies, staff, students, parents, and community stakeholdersSupport high academic standards and student successManage district finances and resources responsiblyGrant writing and management, including Title I, Part D, Special Education, and PerkinsEvaluate building principals, budget analyst, school psychologist, state-wide transition coordinator, and director of exceptional needs.

Serves as the district coordinator for career/technology, curriculum, and dataPromote a positive and safe learning environmentPrepare internal and external reports pertaining to job statusOversee hiring, training, and management of district's contracted staffSubmit federal and state reports on time.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

Success:
Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

Holds or is eligible to obtain an Indiana Superintendent LicenseAt least 3 years of building administration experience preferredDemonstrated leadership experience in educationStrong communication and relationship-building skillsCommitment to student achievement and continuous improvementExperience in school finance, personnel management, and strategic planning preferred
