Job Description
Scope
The Athletic Department exists to develop athletes so that God is honored in all aspects of their lives. The Director of Athletics has the responsibility to hire, train, and retain coaches that can minister to the spiritual needs of the students as well as maximize each athlete's potential. In doing this, the Director will develop and maintain well-balanced competitive programs. The Director also has the responsibility to not only involve the participants, but also the student body, staff, faculty, school family and the community in supporting the athletic program.
Qualifications
The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:
A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit
A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school
Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith
Agreement and belief that The Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind
The ideal candidate shall possess:
A Bachelor's degree
Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Effective interpersonal and communication skills Previous experience in budget management
Accountabilities / Responsibilities
Lead the Christian Academy Athletic Department in the implementation of vision and strategy for the school
Collaborate with School Principals on athletic opportunities
Oversee all athletic activities in the sports program including game and practice scheduling
Weave the school mission into athletic teams, events, and community service
Manage the cash-flow of the Athletic Department including implementation of financial procedures in accordance with policies approved by the Director of Finance
Collaborate with Facilities/Grounds Department to assure upkeep, maintenance and preparation of fields is complete
Provide leadership and guidance to athletic staff and coaches
Maintain relationships with local and state athletic associations.
Ensure compliance of all applicable
IHSAA/KHSAA
bylaws and rules
Maintain all records and certifications required for the safety of student athletes
Complete performance evaluations of all head and assistant coaches
Attend all director level meetings as requested by Principal
Maintain continuing education to be up to date with new and innovative athletic ideas
As head of the Athletic Department, promote school goals, strategies and initiatives to the coaches, Athletic Department, students, parents and community
Serve as the Athletic Department primary purchasing agent
Oversee compliance of Title IX government directives
Build thriving relationships with students, parents, and school employees
Outcomes
Measurability of outcomes will be based on the annual goals set for the department which will include a timeline of attainment.
Maintain peak performance with maintenance and improvement of athletic equipment and fields
Continue to move the athletic function in a positive direction for the school system
Ongoing improvement for athletic facilities
Provide key users of athletics (students, coaches, volunteers) immediate and reliable access to current cutting-edge athletic resources
Operate within established annual budget
Maintain a competent staff that possess a high degree of professionalism and morale
Reporting Relationship:
The Athletic Director is primarily accountable to the Middle/High School Principal.
