CLASS TITLE
ASSISTANT
PRINCIPAL
This position is for the 2026/2027 school year.
BASIC FUNCTION
: To serve as the educational assistant of the school. To support the educational programs and services in the school. To assist the principal in being responsible for implementing district programs, policies, and procedures.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
: Assist with responsibility for the school and educational program. Assist with providing for effective curricular leadership. Assist the principal to provide for effective selection, induction, and continual staff development of all personnel. Assist with leadership responsibilities for the development and improvement of staff. Assist in effective evaluation of all personnel. Provide leadership for positive educational change. Communicate and promote standards of performance. Budget time to achieve balance between administrative and supervisory duties. Identify needed changes and improvement in school plant. Assist to provide sound fiscal management of building resources and programs. Utilize effective practices to promote desirable student conduct. Demonstrate effective skills in problem analysis, decision-making, and judgment. Demonstrate effective communication skills. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations with students, staff, and community. Promote and nurture a positive interpersonal climate in the school building. Adhere to the administrative standards set by the Hardin County Board of Education. Participate in professional growth activities. Hold high expectations for self as evidenced by modeling positive work habits and behaviors. Assume responsibilities outside the school as related to school matters. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may from time to time assign. Adheres to the professional code of ethics. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Is familiar with and incorporates the use of technology in daily tasks.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
:
  • Valid State Teacher Certificate (Preferred)
  • Appropriate Administrative Certificate
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
: High school 215 days; middle and elementary 205 days. Salary and work schedule to be established by the Board

CLASS TITLE
:
INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM SPECIALIST BASIC FUNCTION
: To coordinate the school's efforts to implement and monitor program effectiveness. Programs include, but are not limited to, behavior and support programs, Kentucky System of Interventions (KSI) which is a comprehensive system that ensures that the academic and behavioral needs of students are met, ESL and GT programs designed to accelerate learning requirements, close achievement gaps, design and deliver high-quality instruction, increase student readiness to learn and facilitate student transitions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
: Assist with implementation of decision making rules to ensure effective, equitable and fair treatment for all students. Assure that the fidelity of implementation of KSI is in place in each school so that the delivery of instruction is provided in the way in which it was designed to be delivered. Assist with the provision of tiered services to provide a system of interventions to maximize student achievement and to reduce behavior problems. Assist the school intervention team to establish roles to enable successful collaboration in meeting the needs of students. Monitor curriculum alignment activities being implemented in the school to meet national, state and local standards and to provide accessibility to all students. Assist in the provision of highly effective instruction that is research validated, aligned to curriculum and accessible to all students. Monitor universal screenings to determine the need for diagnostic assessments that inform decisions made by the intervention team. Assist with progress monitoring to inform decisions about instruction and individual student learning. Assist with the implementation of a data system for measuring operations, techniques, and components. Assist with the implementation and monitoring of behavior interventions such as PBIS or KYCID. Provide direct services to schools to support the intervention process with regard to: Knowing and understanding the general curriculum Knowing and understanding how to extend the general curriculum for students experiencing difficulties Facilitating and modeling appropriate modifications of the general curriculum in the regular education setting Evaluating modifications being implemented by all teachers Training teachers in appropriate collaboration Assists in disaggregating trend data for students on statewide and district assessments. Keeps abreast of current research and professional literature and meets with other professionals to exchange information about new practices. Adheres to the professional code of ethics. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Is familiar with and incorporates the use of technology in daily tasks.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
:
  • Certified Position, with $1,500 Stipend and 4 Extended Days
  • Masters Degree in Education; ESL Certificate and/or G/T Certificate desired
