The Student Success Coordinator will work to assist undergraduate, on-campus students in an effort to improve student retention, persistence, and graduation rates. Through providing academic advising for students and early intervention measures, the coordinator will have a targeted focus on undergraduate student success. The Student Success Coordinator will help to coordinate all student success initiatives. The Coordinator will collaborate closely with other members of the Student Success Team to design and implement retention initiatives, maintain advising records, and communicate with faculty regarding student academic success concerns. The Coordinator will also work closely with other departments on campus, including Admissions and faculty representatives from the academic department. Requirements Candidates must have the character and personality to relate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the community. Applicants must have a master's degree (or at least 18 hours of graduate work completed) and at least 2 years of experience in student advising, recruitment, retention, or other related student services areas. Good oral and written communication skills and an understanding of college programs and procedures regarding advisement, registration, and financial aid is desirable.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The Student Success Coordinator will Collaborate with the Student Success Coordinators to facilitate student success programs. Serve as advisor to students and assist with course registration, academic progress, and overall student success. Establish plans of action to address negative attrition/retention patterns with the assigned targeted student population. Prepare and present retention updates and reports for assigned student population. Identify and develop student success indicators for purposes of monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on student academic progress, persistence, attrition/retention and graduation rates. Maintain advising data and contact students in jeopardy of withdrawing or failing school. Provide individual and group Student Success Skills sessions/workshops as needed. Communicate with students on a regular basis to facilitate retention activities. This will be done through in-person, telephone, mail, virtual meetings, and/or e-mail. Collaborate with other campus departments as needed to support student success. Publicize and disseminate student support materials to students. Participate in various departmental, campus, and college initiatives related to retention and student success, including outreach events. Build and maintain an awareness of current trends and best practices in retention and student success areas and integrate such knowledge into campus programs and services. Coordinate assessment of all program areas of responsibility. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Cumberlands is different by design.
