SCHOOLS, MAThe Andover School Committee seeks exceptional and forward-thinking leaders as candidates for its Superintendent of Schools position.
About Andover and Andover Public Schools:
Andover, Massachusetts is a historic and vibrant New England town located approximately 20 miles north of Boston. With a population of approximately 36,000 residents, Andover offers an exceptional quality of life, outstanding municipal services, and an active and engaged community. The town government supports a culture of professional management, fiscal stewardship, and collaboration. There is a strong tradition of partnership among the Town Manager, town leadership, the School District, and the broader community. Andover is home to a highly regarded public school system, robust community support for students and educators, and an environment that values innovation, collaboration, and student success. Andover Public Schools (APS) takes pride in being one of the highest performing school districts in Massachusetts, serving approximately 5400 students. The district operates a comprehensive PreK12 system that includes 10 schools: one preschool program, five elementary schools, three middle schools, and one high school (see below). APS employs approximately 1000 staff members and operates with an annual budget of approximately $111.5 million.

The district has a longstanding reputation for strong student performance, with graduation rates consistently above 95%. It also offers a wide range of programs in academics, the arts, athletics, and extracurricular activities. Position Overview:
The Andover School Committee seeks a Superintendent to serve as the districts chief executive, instructional leader, and steward of its educational vision. The Superintendent will lead with purpose, ensuring that the districts expectations for teaching, learning, and student experience are clearly defined, strategically advanced, and embedded in the daily life of the school.

Educational Vision & Instructional LeadershipDefine, articulate, and champion a clear educational vision that aligns with the districts strategic plan and informs decisions on curriculum, instructional practice, and professional learning.

Lead high-quality instructional programs that support academic, social, and emotional growth.

Promote inclusive practices and support diverse learners.

Develop and monitor annual and multi-year district goals.

Community, Culture & BelongingFoster a welcoming, equitable, inclusive, and innovative student-centered culture.

Build strong relationships with both staff and families through consistent and transparent communication.

Maintain a visible presence across the school community.

Collaborate with local organizations and town partners.

Organizational Leadership & District ManagementOversee all district operations including budgeting, staffing, facilities, and compliance.

Serve as hiring and supervising authority for all district employees.

Develop and manage the annual fiscal budget and Capital Improvement Plan in collaboration with the School Committee.

Lead planning for academics, staffing, facilities, technology, and fiscal sustainability.

Represent Andover Public School in regional and state settings.

Governance & Communication with the School CommitteeServe as chief advisor to the School Committee.

Provide data-informed recommendations, reports, and updates.

Shape meeting agendas and ensure policy implementation.

Communicate proactively about district progress.

QualificationsDemonstrated experience and success in a district leadership position.

Knowledge of and experience with school finance, budget development, management and operations, and human resourcesPreferred experience in school building and/or renovation projects.

Ability to craft and steward a compelling educational vision.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and whole-child development.

A masters degree is required, and an advanced graduate degree is preferred. A Massachusetts Superintendent license or eligibility for license is necessary. The Andover School Committee will offer a competitive benefits package, with a salary range of $220,000-$260,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
