Jul 1, 2026 Job Description Ayer Shirley Regional School District is looking for an Athletic Director to provide each student an opportunity to participate in extracurricular athletic activities that will foster sportsmanship, physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of sports, and the principles of fair play. To coordinate the athletic and intramural programs.
Responsibilities Include:
Oversees and coordinates the district's extracurricular athletic program, including intramural, interscholastic, and unified athletics Assumes responsibility for scheduling all athletic contests, practices, transportation, facilities, and related event logistics Supervises, evaluates, and leads the hiring process for all coaches and athletic training staff in collaboration with the building administration Ensures compliance with athletic eligibility, safety, insurance, physical examination, and MIAA or district participation requirements Administers home athletic events, including coordination of officials, medical personnel, security, supervision, and visiting team needs Oversees athletic program finances, including budgeting, purchasing, ticket sales, fundraising, accounting, and equipment inventories Develops, implements, and maintains athletic program procedures, handbooks, records, promotion, marketing, and recognition programs for student-athletes Provides leadership, communication, and professional development support for coaches and promotes positive community relations regarding the athletic program Attends home athletic events and remains available to coaches, officials, student-athletes, and transportation providers during athletic activities as needed Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent
