The District is seeking aTeam Chairperson for the 2026-2027 school year.General Responsibilities:
The Team Chairperson shall manage the operation of the Team process, subject to the supervision and direction of the Administrator of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services. This is a district position with the primary assignment at the middle school level. The candidate may also be responsible for facilitation of team meetings at the elementary school, high school, and preschool levels, as needed. The candidate will: 1. have knowledge of various assessment tools, the ability to analyze assessment results and support recommendations of the team based on data analysis and consideration of functional skills. 2. have a working knowledge of the DESE defined categories of disability and be able to link assessment results and school-based information to support the appropriate determination of a disability category within the team process. 3. have a working knowledge of the IEP components and the ability to write an IEP that supports the individual needs of the student. 4. have the ability to review student goals to determine that they are data driven, measurable and appropriate to meet the needs of the individual student. 5. have the ability to support special education and general education staff with IEP writing, report writing, and programming determinations, as needed, to insure that student needs are supported and met. 6. demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills. 7. demonstrate the ability to provide a well-written, error-free document and support staff in the editing of evaluation reports and IEP's to ensure that they are well-written and error-free. The Team Chairperson shall diligently, faithfully, and competently perform the duties and responsibilities that are imposed upon, contained in, or required under the following: A. Federal LawIDEA 2004
B. The statues of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts under 766 rules and regulations. (603 CMR)SPED 2007
C. Program Quality Assurance Guidelines and Advisories D. BSEA due process guidelines E. Policies of the Beverly School Committee F. Regulations of grants and special mandated programs G. The District Improvement Plan and DCAP H. Principles of effective administrative leadership as established by DOE LEADERSHIP 1) Ensure the IEP's accurately reflect the TEAM recommendations. 2) Model behaviors and attitudes desired from staff and students. 3) Facilitate and promote participation in the IEP process for staff, families, students, and community agencies. 4) Act as a liaison to administration, building staff, parents and community agencies in coordinating all student services. 5) Lead teachers and related service providers in exploring best practices and newest DOE mandates. 6) Provide training to staff regarding current or changes in process and procedure or specific content related to the role.ADMINISTRATIVE
1. Coordinate the TEAM process from referral to implementation of an IEP including: a) Process required forms and paperwork within mandated timeframes. b) Serve as the district contact person for parents, teachers, and community services. c) Facilitate team meetings, determine eligibility, and develop the IEP in accordance with state requirements and regulations. d) Ensure the IEP accurately reflects the TEAM recommendations e) Ensure that the program developed is adhered to and that services are in compliance with the IEP. f) Problem solve with the TEAM as the need arises. g) Consult with the liaisons regarding annual review needs. h) Review IEPs that are developed at annual review meetings for accuracy. 2. Support other operations within the special education department including: a) Assist the Administrator of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services in completing federal and state mandated reports b) Maintain files and complete file reviews for Public School Monitoring, records requests, and other requirements c) Other duties as assigned by the Administrator of Special Education and PPS COMMUNICATIONS 1) Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with students, staff, parents, and central office. 2) Assume responsibility for all official correspondence. 3) Keep the Administrator of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services informed at all times. 4) Effectively communicate with building administration in the support of special education students and programming needs. This is a school year position with an additional 5 days at the end of the school year and 5 days before the start of the school year.Position Type:
