Evaluation Team Chair (District)REPORTS TO
ASSISTANTDIRECTOR OF SPECIAL SERVICES JOB SUMMARY
To chair special education initial team meetings; determine eligibility and type of services needed; to provide oversight of IEPs.QUALIFICATIONS
A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university. Three years of teaching, assessing, programming, or related experience working with students with disabilities. Experience in the management, processes, and programming of the Special Education and 504 Team Evaluation process. Knowledge of a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS), including eligibility via an RTI process (experience preferred). Excellent communication skills (verbal, nonverbal, written).DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Coordinate and chair special education initial team meetings throughout the district. 2. Verifies that all staff have reviewed the IEP information for assigned students.Following the review of IEP information by teachers, the ETC will facilitate the verification process of all staff. 3. Serves as LEA in the initial meeting - has final decision making power in the meetings. 4. Ensure all required paperwork is completed within the regulated timelines. 5. Collaboratively develop and write Individual Educational Plans with team members. The ETC will hold sole responsibility for IEP development. Collaboration will occur with team members in developing goals. 6. Participate actively and regularly in the Special Education department and building meetings. 7. Follow IDEA regulations to ensure that parent/student rights are upheld. 8. Encourage involvement of parents in the evaluation process through written and verbal communications. 9. Keep administrators and staff members well informed about student cases. 10. Plan for the integration of students into less restrictive environments. 11. Work cooperatively with the Director of Special Services, Assistant Director of Special Services, Principals and other administrators. 12. Work constructively and cooperatively with staff and parents in identifying and solving issues and problems to effectuate and maintain quality education. 13. Perform such other tasks as the Director of Special Services, Assistant Director of Special Services or building administrators request.
