Immediately Job Description Spencer East Brookfield Regional School District is seeking a dynamic leader to become the next Principal of Knox Trail Middle School (KTMS). We are looking for a leader who believes that every student can learn and achieve at a high level. A leader who will strive to meet the needs of each and every student at Knox Trail by supporting social emotional learning (SEL), relying on data informed decision making, and implementing both restorative practices and progressive discipline. The successful candidate should be an excellent communicator who can actively engage our students, parents, and community from various backgrounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise the daily activities of the instructional and support staff
  • Interview/Recommend new professional and support staff in accordance with School Committee policy and with the approval of the Superintendent of Schools
  • Initiate, design, and implement programs that meet the needs of the school in concert with the Superintendent, the School Committee, and Director of Academic Affairs, and Department Coordinators
  • Responsible for exercising vision and providing leadership that appropriately involves staff, parents, students, business partners, and community in the identification and accomplishment of the school's mission and goals
  • Administer the supervision and evaluation plan for all staff members
  • Prepare and administer the budget for the school in conjunction with the school council and the Business Office
  • Establish a school schedule and assign students to appropriate learning environments based on district policies and procedures
  • Assume responsibility for monitoring the establishment of professional development plans for all faculty members following the local and state-wide professional development plan
  • Develop an effective transition and orientation program for students entering middle school
  • Responsible for promoting a school climate that fosters high student expectations and employs appropriate strategies that address multiple learning styles.
  • Develop and implement a code of conduct which ensures a safe and supportive school climate
  • Establish and maintain ongoing communications with parents and the community about the school through newsletters, media presentations, and/or social media
  • Responsible for developing and executing a system of personnel selection, assignments, supervision, support, and evaluation that encourages professional growth in staff performance, in partnership with the Superintendent's Office
  • Serve as a member of certain committees related to specific subjects and other district-level committees as designated by the Superintendent of Schools
  • Ensure consistent communication with the Superintendent regarding important school events and situations
  • Establish and maintain healthy relationships with parents, local community groups, and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, developments, and research as they relate to education and school operations
  • Continue own professional growth and development
  • Completes other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools
