Aug 18, 2026 Job Description The Associate Principal serves as a key instructional leader responsible for driving academic excellence, curriculum implementation, assessment practices and teaching effectiveness across the school. Working closely with the Principal, this resource provides strategic leadership to ensure high standards of student achievement, continuous improvement of instructional programs, and alignment with the school's educational vision and goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor curriculum delivery and ensure alignment with state, national and school standards.
  • Supervise and evaluate classroom teachers in collaboration with the Principal.
  • Conduct frequent classroom observations and provide targeted feedback.
  • Identify professional development needs and coordinate training initiatives.
  • Analyze internal and external data to create and implement universal and individual academic success plans.
  • Promote evidence-based instructional practices and innovative teaching methodologies.
  • Create and implement improvement plans for standardized testing results (MCAS, AP, SAT).
  • Oversee assessment systems, including formative, summative and standardized testing programs.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding academic progress and results.
  • Lead staff and family meetings.
  • Represent the school in meetings, academic events and community engagements as needed.
  • Provide instructional coaching and mentoring.
  • Work closely with the College Counseling and Special Services Departments to ensure student success and fulfillment of the school's mission.
  • Ensure effective academic progress monitoring and communication, especially for at-risk students.
  • Ensure consistency in instructional practices and academic expectations across departments and grade levels.
  • Create an effective yearly schedule for both teachers and students which meets the school's needs.
  • Creates and implements plans in case of extended teacher absence to ensure educational momentum will continue.
  • Support successful summer academic programs.
  • Provide data and reports to the Board of Trustees' Education Subcommittee as requested by the Principal and Director.
  • Ensure successful implementation of the school's MTSS program.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as prescribed by the Principal and Director.
