Aug 31, 2026 Job Description Walpole Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Team Chairperson at Elm Street Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year.
QUALIFICATIONS
Special Education certification and/or relevant certification required Special Education Administrator certification preferred Previous teaching and/or supervisory experience within special education programs
REPORTS TO
Building Principal(s)/Director of Student Services
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordination of referral, evaluation, eligibility, and IEP development procedures for students, in conjunction with building support staff (i.e. Procedural Assistants), and in compliance with state and federal regulations. Facilitate all necessary team meetings within the building, unless an alternative staff member is deemed appropriate by the Principal. Lead various staff groups in the analysis of student data, including but not limited to: MTSS; IEP goal progress; MCAS performance; overall student achievement; behavioral and/or social-emotional development. Review, edit as needed, and sign IEP's written by building staff. Oversight of IEP implementation in the building. This includes oversight of staff caseloads and schedules, as well as input into the development of MCAS or other standard assessment accommodation groupings. Oversight of IEP progress report delivery to parents. Collaborate with administration to review and consider recommendations for program development when appropriate. Input into special education staff evaluations as deemed appropriate by Principal. Coordination/collaboration with other team chairs regarding students entering or exiting the building with an IEP. This includes annual discussions around grade promotion. Attend district team chair meetings during the school year. Function as a liaison to outside agencies when appropriate (i.e. DCF, DDS, Private clinicians) Ongoing communication with parents as necessary. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
