WV Professional Administrative Certificate endorsed in Principal PK-AD.
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience. Leadership experience preferred Job Summary The Elementary School Assistant Principal supports the principal in the overall administration and instructional leadership of the school. This position assists in creating and maintaining a safe, orderly, and effective learning environment while promoting student achievement, positive behavior, and staff development in alignment with West Virginia Board of Education policies and county expectations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instructional Support and Leadership Assist the principal in implementing curriculum, instruction, and assessment aligned with West Virginia College
  • and Career-Readiness Standards.
Support the use of student data to improve instruction and close achievement gaps. Participate in the development and implementation of the school strategic plan and improvement efforts. Assist with oversight of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and School Assistance Team (SAT) processes. Support classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers to improve instructional practices. Assist with testing coordination and other school-wide programs. Student Management and Discipline Assist in maintaining a safe and orderly school environment. Administer student discipline in accordance with West Virginia Code and Policy 4373. Monitor student attendance, behavior, and intervention programs. Support implementation of positive behavior supports and school-wide expectations. School Operations Assist with daily school operations including scheduling, supervision, transportation coordination, and facilities management. Help coordinate school safety plans, drills, and emergency procedures. Ensure compliance with state and county policies, procedures, and reporting requirements. Personnel Support Assist the principal in supervising and evaluating staff in accordance with West Virginia Board of Education Policy 5310. Support staff professional growth through coaching, mentoring, and professional development. Help foster a collaborative and positive school culture. Student Services Support services for students with exceptionalities in compliance with WVBE Policy 2419. Participate in IEP, 504, and SAT meetings as needed. Assist in coordinating counseling, health, and social services for students. Family and Community Engagement Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and school programs. Assist in promoting family engagement and community partnerships. Represent the school at meetings and events as designated by the principal. Other Duties Serve as acting principal in the absence of the principal. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or superintendent. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of elementary curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices. Understanding of West Virginia education law and policies Ability to analyze data and support school improvement initiatives. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage student behavior and support a positive school climate. Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills.
