Job Description
We have an opening in our Service Delivery Admin department for an Superintendent 2. Job Description The Superintendent position is a hands-on general management position. The Superintendent has overall responsibility for the daily operation of the division, both water treatment and distribution. The Superintendent is the senior supervisor in the division, and has the responsibility to direct the daily duties of the employees in the division, and directly supervises two divisions: Bucksport and Millinocket, ME. This will require frequent travel within the state of Maine. Duties include performance reviews and appraisals, adherence to all company personnel policies and to state and federal laws, and communications to employees on all company matters. The Superintendent must report regularly on the activities within the division to the Director of Operations and will support the Lead Water Operator and respective Water Operators. The Superintendent also has responsibility to insure the safety of division employees through the administration of the company safety program.
System Operation and Stewardship:
The Superintendent has the responsibility for the daily operation and maintenance of the water production facility and distribution system and for compliance with the public health and water quality requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Maine Rules Relating to Drinking Water. The Superintendent must also plan for the proper maintenance, replacement, and expansion of the water system, in accordance with company standards and professional water works industry guidelines. This includes the ability for the water system to meet or exceed all regulatory standards for drinking water.Supervisory:
The Superintendent is the senior supervisor in the division, and has the responsibility to direct the daily duties of the employees in the division. The Superintendent must report regularly on the activities within the division to the Vice President - Operations. The Superintendent also has responsibility to insure the safety of division employees through the administration of the company safety program.Financial performance:
The Superintendent is responsible for the development and management of the annual operating and capital budget for the division. The Millinocket annual operating budget exceeds $1.2 million. The Millinocket annual capital budget exceeds $200,000. The key areas of financial management for the Superintendent include labor, power, chemicals, materials and supplies, and outside contractors. Each operating division is expected to meet budgeted income targets, and to assist in the planning for revenue and expense adjustments as necessary to achieve the budgeted targets.Community Relations:
The Superintendent must seek to develop and maintain positive relationships with the communities in the division. This includes having personal knowledge of the community leaders and municipal officials in the division. Often, the Superintendent must act as the company spokesperson at the local level. The Superintendent is also encouraged to develop and maintain positive relationships with large water customers in the division. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Water Distribution Level IV required Driver's License required CDL A preferred High proficiency with Treatment and distribution software (SCADA) Experience with General office software Leadership skills Ability to maintain effective relationships with employees, customers, public officials, and regulators 5-7 years of supervisory experience in a water utility or related field Primary Work Location 191 School Street, PO Box 1969 Bucksport, Maine, 04416 United States Frequent travel to Millinocket, ME as well.
