  • Assign and oversee special education referrals and evaluations
  • Facilitate initial evaluation meetings, re-evaluation meetings, and annual IEP meetings
  • Review and refine all IEPs in collaboration with service providers; write proposal narratives
  • Develop strong parent partnerships through the Team process, individualized problem solving, and consultation
  • Engage in daily informal consultation, problem solving, and coaching with faculty and staff on behalf of students
  • Establish and implement goals and strategic plans for 6-12 programs (moderate, SAIL, Transitions, IRWL, ACE)
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and administration to identify professional development and meet training needs
  • Oversee out-of-district caseload for grades 6 through post-graduate/age 22 (e.g. meetings, email and telephone communication, IEPs, evaluations, observations)
  • In collaboration with the Director and Elementary Chairperson, create and implement the vision for Special Education PK-12.
  • Meet weekly with the Director of Student Services and Elementary Chairperson to review program needs, compliance indicators, and continuity of the program PK-12.
  • Clearly communicate and adhere to state and federal laws and regulations related to special education process and procedures.
  • Other responsibilities as determined by Superintendent and the Director of Student Services
