Position Overview Shir Tikvah Congregation seeks a .5 FTE Manager of Lifelong Learning and JAMI Principal. Working alongside a full-time education administrator and the Rabbi for Lifelong Learning, this role will serve our Jewish Academy for Moral Imagination (religious school) as frontline support for our teachers, students and parents/guardians. The Manager of Lifelong Learning and JAMI Principal will ensure that program days run smoothly and that students, families, and educators experience a calm, well-supported learning environment. The role will also collaborate with the clergy team and faculty to shape and implement a cohesive, loving, justice-minded pedagogy and curriculum for the school. The Manager of Lifelong Learning will also support adult learning, including creating parent/guardian engagement programs within the school and teaching our 24-week intro to Judaism curriculum. Schedule This is a 10 month position, serving from August through May. The manager will be present during Sunday morning and Wednesday evening religious school and our Tuesday evening intro to Judaism class. Outside of program hours, they'll have flexible time to complete administrative work and meet with parents and teachers. Key Responsibilities Program-Day Leadership & Authority
- Serve as the on-site leader during Religious School sessions (Sundays and Wednesdays)
- Hold clear authority for day-of decisions involving classrooms, students, teachers, and families
- Maintain safety, tone, and expectations across the school environment Teacher & Classroom Support
- Support our religious school faculty and tutors providing regular support, including review of lesson plans and teacher observation
- Respond to classroom disruptions and behavioral challenges
- Arrange and oversee coverage for teacher absences in coordination with administrative staff Student & Family Support
- Act as the first point of contact for parent/guardian concerns
- Address routine classroom or program challenges directly
- Escalate values-based, pastoral, or complex concerns to rabbinic leadership as appropriate
- Collaborate with the Rabbi for Congregational Engagement in building youth group, teen, and parent/guardian engagement programming Adult Learning
- Support adult education teachers, including teacher observation and evaluation
- Serve as the lead teacher in our online, zoom, 24-week Judaism 101 curriculum for adult learners Coordination & Communication
- Collaborate with the education assistant and Rabbi for Lifelong Learning to coordinate all school communication, from scheduling logistics to Jewish messaging
- Collaborate with the clergy team to build out family and educational programming for Jewish holidays
- Collaborate with the education assistant to implement and track the budget of the religious school
- Triage and report areas of concern within Shir Tikvah's education programming to the clergy team Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in educational leadership, school administration, or senior teaching roles
- Strong judgment, emotional intelligence, and calm presence under pressure
- Ability to hold authority with warmth and clarity
- Comfort working in a values-driven, relational community
- A depth of Jewish learning and a love of sharing that learning with others Our ideal candidate will feel comfortable with and enthusiastic about:
- Sitting with a 4th grader having a hard time at the end of religious school
- Coaching a teacher who's struggling to get their 6th graders who are bouncing off the walls with energy
