TITLE:
HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree, with a major in educational administration or related field. Minnesota licensure to practice as a school principal. Experience as a classroom teacher. Experience in public school administration and supervision preferred.

High School Principal
JOB GOALS
Provide leadership in the area of student management and assist the principal in developing an effective learning environment for all students in the high school.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the student discipline and behavior management system, in cooperation with Attendance/Student Management Coordinator and Counselors. Manages student attendance system, in cooperation with Attendance/Student Coordinator. Assists the principal in the general administration of the school and serves as principal when the principal is absent. Assists the principal in developing the high school's instructional program in conjunction with the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, and assists in the development, revision and evaluation of curriculum. Assists the principal in the supervision of the school's instructional program. Assists the principal in the supervision and evaluation of teachers and other support staff. Assists in the appraisal and selection of candidates for appointment to the staff. Oversees Loss of Privilege study hall programs and communicates program needs and expectations with staff assigned these areas of supervision. Member of Student Assistance Team. Works with School Resource Officer in matters relating to student criminal conduct and other disciplinary issues (e.g., harassment, safety, etc.). Interprets school discipline and attendance policies and procedures and communicates them to students, parents/guardians, and the community. Oversees communication to parents/guardians regarding individual student disciplinary action as required by law or as necessary to further the goals of the student discipline and behavior management system. Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the school's administration. Works with Chemical Health Coordinator, Student Support Specialist, and Activities Director as appropriate in matters relating to student use of alcohol, tobacco, or drugs. Attends after-school student events and activities as needed. Supervises Attendance/Student Management Coordinator, Student Services secretarial staff work, and other non-instructional student support employees. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as directed by Principal.
