Position Function:
Reporting to the Executive Director of the Center for Academic Excellence, this person will serve as a point-of-contact for transfer students as they move from the community college setting to the university. This person will serve as a liaison between students and academic services/departments on campus. This person will serve as a liaison between students and Account Services. This person will serve as a liaison between students and the Registrar's Office. This person will be well-versed in study skills, time management, and other pertinent topics to help students as they appear in his/her office.
Salary Grade :
14 Please see Staff Compensation Structure or Skilled Crafts and Service Maintenance Compensation Schedule for salary ranges. For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the Associate Vice President of Enrollment, the Director of Undergraduate Student Recruiting and Marketing, and the Office of Undergraduate Enrollment to establish working relationships with community colleges around the state and region.
  • Work closely with Advising Leads in the Center for Advising as students are referred.
  • Make data-informed decisions regarding target populations of transfer students.
  • Teach two sections per semester of

  • Seminar for Transfer Students. The fall sections will be open to new transfers only. This will allow transfers to meet other transfers on the first day of class. The spring sections will be open to returning transfer students in need of academic assistance.
  • Teach two sections per semester of

  • College Reading and Study Skills. The fall sections will be open to new transfers only. This will allow transfers to meet other transfers on the first day of class. The spring sections will be open to returning transfer students in need of academic assistance.
  • Work with academic departments and faculty to identify transfer students in need of university interaction. Reasons for contacting could be, but not limited to, academic assistance, transition to university life, questions regarding financial assistance, questions about major changes, and questions about possible careers.
  • Work with other Center for Academic Excellence staff to identify timely needs for tutoring, academic coaching, and Supplemental Instruction.
  • Identify, email, and text transfer students in need of academic assistance immediately after Progress Grade reporting.
  • Plan academic assistance sessions that are available immediately after Progress Grade reporting.
Minimum Qualifications:
Earned bachelor's degree in related field. Minimum of 3 years' professional experience in a related area.
Preferred Qualifications:
Earned Master's degree in higher education or a related field; At least 5 years' experience at a community college, with teaching experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Excellent interpersonal skills 2. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 3. Excellent computer skills, knowledge of spreadsheets, words processing, and PowerPoint. 4. Ability to work and communicate effectively 5. Ability to organize and administer programs and curricula. 6. Ability to meet deadlines. Working Conditions and Physical Effort 1. No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting and all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility. 2. Semester-based deadlines; change in work volume based on semester deadlines; priorities can be determined and expected; some interruptions may occur; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressure from other individuals aside from immediate supervisor. 3.
