Employee performs entry level work and cooperates with classroom teachers in assigning work and ensuring its completion. This position motivates and counsels students to develop attitudes and knowledge needed to ensure that effective learning occurs. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Salary/Status NC 07 Hourly Non-Certified Schedule/Full-time, 9 months Reports To Principal Place of Work The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time. Essential Functions Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures Communicate effectively with administration, counselors and other personnel about academic and behavioral needs of students Work with classroom teachers in the assignment and completion of coursework Disperse assignments to and collect assignments from in-school suspension students Offer strategies to help students act appropriately in social settings Manage daily record of students assigned to in-school suspension and silent lunch Supervise students in and outside the classroom Keep room orderly and quiet at all times Notify principal of any problems as they arise Assist students with any problem in completion of assignments Attend and participate in staff development and training sessions Perform related duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Knowledgeable of federal, state, and local regulatory policies relating to education Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment or software related to business needs Ability to multi-task and complete tasks by order of importance Ability to employ positive communication skills in all settings/mediums Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships Ability to adapt to changing work priorities while providing excellent customer service Ability to be maintain confidentiality regarding school system business Ability to problem solve and use a variety of approaches to find solutions Ability to take initiative, work independently, and exercise sound judgment Demonstrated ability to work effectively in deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment Education and Experience Associate's degree or two years of higher education equivalent to 48 credit hours or ability to pass a formal assessment (Workkey and 96 hours of in-service training) or completion of the NC DOL Apprenticeship Program or completion of the NC ATA Professional Development Plan required Associate's degree with a concentration in Education preferred Two plus years working with elementary age children preferred Equivalent combination of education and experience Special Requirements Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings # of Jobs 1.00 Minimum Educational Requirements Associate Degree Term 9 Month Additional Job Information
