State Salary Schedule for Principals (plus local supplement)

EXEMPT Qualifications/ Requirements:
Candidates must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Principal license Training in the N.C. Teacher Performance Appraisal system or its equivalent is preferred Administrative experience is required
Duties:
Serve as the instructional leader of the school Serve as the chief administrator of the school in developing and implementing policies, programs, curricular and co-curricular activities and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member Conceptualize Board of Education goals and plans to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total school program Ensure that the school program is compatible with the legal, financial and organizational structure of the school system Define the responsibilities and accountability of staff Provide activities that facilitate growth of school staff and enhance the quality of the instructional program Identify the annual objectives for the instructional programs of the school Involve faculty in the development of specific curricular objectives to meet the needs of the school program Establish, implements and evaluate procedures used to carry out the daily routine of the school Evaluate students' progress in the instructional program through the use of up-to-date student data Supervise and appraises performance of the school staff Maintain positive school and district communications and maintains positive communications with the community Adheres to Board of Education policies and follows established procedures Orient new staff members and new students to the school program and assist in their adjustment Maintain positive relations with the public, encourages the use of community resources and coordinates the community use of school facilities Manage, direct, and maintain records/inventory of materials, supplies and equipment that are necessary to carry out the daily school routine Participates in selection of all school staff members Maintain own professional competence by attending conferences, workshops and college classes that focus on educational trends Must be able to perform heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of forces frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects Perform all other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the superintendent
