Full Time (30 Hours or More) Job Requirements and Properties Work Onsite Full Time Schedule Full Time Job Description . Under the direction of the SASS Executive Director, the Associate Director contributes to the strategic leadership and vision for disability services by overseeing the daily activities and resources of the department; serving students with learning, psychological, medical and physical disabilities; and managing all issues related to their disability and its impact on their academic, residential and co-curricular life at Keene State College. This position is responsible for supervision of the disability services team, providing accommodations to students with disabilities, and ensuring compliance with Section 504 of the Rehab Act and ADA and equal access to KSC programs and services. All staff positions on campus support students and will be involved in student-focused activities. Duties/Responsibilities Disability Services Expertise and Compliance (40%)
  • Manage incoming student transition services, including evaluating new documentation in accordance with federal guidelines, disseminating information regarding transition process and resources via phone/email contact, student letters, meetings and departmental web page, and keeping track of department updates on numbers and trends of each incoming class.
  • Meet with students to coordinate and counsel academic and residential accommodations.
  • Serve as a consultant to parents, students, faculty and staff regarding academic accommodations in compliance with legal responsibilities at Keene State College.
  • Review documentation in accordance with ADA and Section 504 criteria to ensure effective accommodations.
  • Identify students who need intervention and/or additional support and facilitate introduction to campus partners. Professional Development and Campus Engagement (30%)
  • Develop cooperative relationships, collaborate, and consult with campus partners on complex cases, including but not limited to: Student Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, Title IX, Athletics, the Office of the Dean of Students, Community Living and Transitions, Dining Services, Registrar, and Academic units.
  • Consult with appropriate staff to recommend disability-related accommodations to Community Living that ensures a student's needs are met in on-campus housing. Participate in Community Director and Community Assistant training to help student staff understand disability accommodations and best practices in designing their programs to promote accessibility.
  • Identify on-campus and off-campus resources necessary for academic accommodations.
  • Lead the department's communication with faculty and staff to promote accessibility, and advise on all applicable college, state, and federal ADA policies, procedures, and protocols. Provide ongoing consultation and technical assistance to faculty on the use of Accommodate to manage the delivery of accommodations.
  • Provide professional development/workshops for faculty, staff, and student workers around disability issues and the benefits of universal design.
  • Engage in college and university system strategic planning initiatives, serving on committees to further institutional goals in accessibility, student success, and well-being. Department Leadership and Supervision (15%)
  • Supervises Accommodations Support Coordinator to guide alternative testing processes and procedures for students and direct service.
  • Supervises Program Support Assistant to guide alternative text and assistive technology programming, initiatives, procedures, and investment/purchases.
  • Conducts performance reviews as needed.
  • Foster an inclusive team culture, encouraging professional development and continuous improvement in service delivery. Technology, Data, and Reporting (10%)
  • Manage the departments' Accommodate software database. Ensure templates used for accommodation letters are accurate and updated as needed.
  • Possess technical ability to use and train staff on other student information systems (EAB Navigate, Maxient, Colleague, Ellucian Student Planning, WorkDay) to manage caseload and support the University's retention goals.
  • Maintains student data in departmental database, including and updating all new and current student information and monitoring LOA's, withdrawals, academic performance and graduation rates of students.
  • Develop and oversee the department's assessment program goals and activities; collect data and generate reports to evaluate key performance measurements and effectiveness.
  • Assures information is up to date for end of the semester reporting. Other (5%)
  • Participate fully in initiatives steered by Student Academic Support Services, including cross-departmental training, collaboration, advising, and strategic planning.
  • Represent the department at Owl Open House events, Admitted Student Days, Owl Orientation, and Welcome Week. campus meetings, and other informational gatherings.

Vision and Strategy Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ADA regulations and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret results of various assessments and diagnostic tools used to diagnose different types of disabilities and make recommendations for reasonable accommodations required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advocacy for and experience working with students with disabilities at the post-secondary level.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the broad spectrum of disability categories present in post-secondary settings and the corresponding reasonable accommodations available to these students
  • Experience advising, counseling, coaching, and/or teaching college students with disabilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to present materials to students, faculty, staff, and families.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to function well autonomously.
  • Ability to use technologies suitable for case management, data tracking, and reporting.
