Job Description
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Leadership, Curriculum, and AssessmentCollaborates with the Principal to establish and maintain a student-centered learning environment that promotes academic growth through engagement, problem solving, critical thinking, foundational skill development, and real-world learning;Supports high-quality instructional practices that reflect developmentally appropriate, research-based strategies and meet diverse learner needs;Assists in planning, organizing, and implementing school programs, schedules, and instructional initiatives;Supports the implementation of curriculum aligned with district priorities, School Board policy, and New Hampshire Department of Education regulations;Helps ensure that assessment systems are in place and used effectively to inform instruction, intervention, and enrichment;Works with staff to support data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement of student learning;Assists in budget development, staffing, and class size considerations to support instructional goals;Ensures that required student records and school reports are accurate, current, and compliant with legal requirements.Student Support, Engagement, and School ClimateSupports a positive, inclusive, and developmentally responsive school climate that fosters belonging, respect, and student voice;Builds strong relationships with students and promotes social-emotional development and well-being;Implements and refines systems for multi-tiered student behavior support, including proactive, restorative, and instructional approaches;Reinforces school-wide practices related to social-emotional learning and early intervention, appropriate to the elementary level;Works directly with students and families to address concerns related to behavior, attendance, and engagement;Ensures that all students are welcomed, supported, and provided services equitably, including coordination with special education, 504, and ELL programs;Enforces School District policies related to student conduct, bullying, and harassment, with a focus on teaching and restoring positive behaviors;Supports transitions for students (e.g., entry, grade-level transitions) to ensure a strong sense of connection and success.
Personnel and Professional LearningAssists the Principal in the supervision, observation, and evaluation of certified and non-certified staff;Supports the development and delivery of professional learning aligned to district initiatives, including instruction, classroom management, and student engagement;Coaches and supports staff through collaboration, feedback, and modeling of effective practices;Assists with hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and recommendations for contract renewal;Helps ensure appropriate staffing and substitute coverage to maintain continuity of instruction;Maintains required personnel records at the building level.
Operations, Safety, and School ManagementAssists in managing daily building operations in coordination with the Principal and Director of Operations;Supports school safety efforts including fire drills, lockdowns, and emergency preparedness;Serves as a member of the Safety Committee and contributes to a safe and orderly school environment;Helps oversee the use of facilities, transportation coordination, and communication of operational needs;Provides leadership in emergency situations to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.
Family, Community, and CommunicationSupports effective two-way communication between school, families, and community;Builds strong partnerships with families to support student success and well-being;Serves as a liaison with community agencies and resources to enhance student support and programming;Assists in organizing conferences, meetings, and communications related to student progress and needs;Ensures that communication is clear, timely, and accessible to all stakeholders.
Finance and Resources ManagementAssists the Principal in the development and management of the school budget;Supports ordering and allocation of instructional materials and supplies aligned with school priorities;Helps monitor and manage student activity funds and school-based accounts in accordance with district procedures.
Other ResponsibilitiesAssists in planning and implementing events that recognize student learning, growth, and achievement;Participates in district and building leadership teams;Attends school-sponsored events and activities as assigned;Serves in the role of Principal when the Principal is absent;Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent;Other duties as assigned.
SupervisesTeachers, support staff, substitute teachers, and such individuals as directed by the Principal or Superintendent of Schools.
