Job Description:
The Director of School manages the school's daily operations ensuring a high quality learning experience for all students of The Arts Academy of NH. Acting as the chief executive, they carry out their duties based on the direction and policies set by the Board. In a collaborative partnership with the Board, the Director of School ensures the school's overall success. This role involves guiding the organization's vision, mission, and strategy, as well as leading the effort to set and achieve annual goals while supporting the Board in meeting its legal and fiduciary responsibilities.
Core Responsibilities Strategic Leadership:
Drive the school's long-term and short-term goals, maintain the integrity of the school's foundational charter, and align operations with the Board-approved Strategic Plan.
Compliance & Governance:
Ensure strict adherence to New Hampshire Department of Education requirements, charter obligations, and special education mandates (IDEA/504).
Financial & Operational Management:
Oversee day-to-day operations, manage the annual budget, pursue fundraising and grants, and manage facility maintenance.
Instructional & Personnel Leadership:
Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate faculty and administrative staff. Oversee the implementation and evaluation of the school's curriculum.
Community & Enrollment Management:
Act as the primary ambassador for the school. Drive strategic enrollment and student retention, which is critical for school revenue, and build strong relationships with local sending school districts and the community through outreach and consistent communications. Detailed Responsibilities Promotes effective instructional practices for students and teachers including instruction for students and consultative services for teachers. Building a school culture in which faculty are empowered in school wide decision making in the areas of their professional expertise. Oversee submission of all required state and federal reporting. Nurture and sustain a culture of collaboration, trust, learning, and high expectations Supervises classroom instructional practices. Plans, organizes, and directs implementation of all school activities. Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school. Assure the effective implementation of the school's curriculum and assessments. Establishes programs, classes, and schedules to meet student needs. Establishes guidelines and fosters positive incentives for student behavior. Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet specific needs of the school. Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs. Implements and supervises the school's Special Education Program, coordinates Special Education services and oversees the implementation of 504, ELL and curriculum accommodation plans. Prepares and submits the school's budget in collaboration with the Board of Trustees Chair and/or Treasurer and monitors expenditures of funds. Oversees complete school records relating to enrollment, attendance, grading, health, etc. Performs other duties as assigned by the
Board of Trustees Qualifications:
Certified or certifiable as a Principal in N.H. at the High School level. Prefer a Master's degree or higher with a Major in Education. A minimum of five years teaching and/or administrative experience at the High School level. Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents and community. Ability to set standards of performance, coordinate, and evaluate the activities of all building personnel. Demonstrated success in the formulation and carrying out of policies, programs, and practices in prescribed areas. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Hiring committee may find acceptable.
