04/08/2026 The Black Horse Pike Regional School District anticipates an opening for a Special Education Supervisor at Timber Creek for the 2026-2027 school year. Qualifications Hold a New Jersey Supervisor's certificate. Minimum of five years' experience as a special education teacher and/or CST member. Master's Degree in Special Education or Educational Administration/leadership or related field. Demonstrated ability to effectively administer special education programs and to work with parents, community groups, agencies, employees and children. Broad knowledge of state and federal special education laws, regulations, procedures and reporting requirements. Must possess excellent communication, facilitation and organizational skills Reports To Building Principal and Director of Special Services Job Goal The Supervisor of Special Education is responsible for leading continuous improvement in teaching and learning within the Special Education Department. This includes curriculum development, instructional supervision, staff evaluation, and professional development. The Supervisor serves as a collaborative liaison between district leadership, building administration, Child Study Team members and department staff, with a focus on equity, innovation and student achievement. The Supervisor serves as the Special Education compliance officer for their assigned building, ensuring that all requirements outlined in the New Jersey Administrative Code related to Special Education are fully implemented and consistently upheld. __________________________________________________________ Performance Responsibilities Instructional Leadership Collaborate with the Supervisors of Special Education as well as district content area supervisors, in coordinating all instructional programs and services for students with special needs including: Inclusion Programs Self-Contained Programs Resource Room Programs Out-of-District Placements Home Instruction Programs Supplementary Instruction Supervise and evaluate Child Study Team members, Special Education instructional and non-instructional staff (as appropriate) and other assigned personnel in accordance with district policy and NJDOE requirements, utilizing current clinical supervision models. Monitor curricular alignment for all Special Education content areas and keep the Principal, Director of Curriculum and Director of Special Services informed of these changes. Provide assistance for student needs and support in the absence of the Child Study Team case manager. Attend monthly supervisor meetings. Attend Back to School Night and 9th grade open house. Child Study Team Leadership Oversee and manage Child Study Team processes and procedures as defined in the New Jersey Administrative Code relative to Special Education to ensure compliance with all regulations. Support case managers in ensuring that the individual needs of students are prioritized, addressed, and effectively supported across all aspects of their educational programming. Manage and assign all supplemental Special Education services based on student needs. Oversee the delivery of these services for each student and ensure accurate record keeping and timely submission of SEMI documentation in collaboration with the District Office Special Education administrative assistant. Curriculum & Assessment Review curriculum maps, unit plans, and lesson plans to ensure program fidelity, alignment with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, and the inclusion of appropriate modifications to meet the individual needs of students. Coordinate and lead Professional Learning Community (PLCs) for Special Education staff and other district staff as appropriate. Collaborate with staff in selecting instructional materials that reflect diverse perspectives and support inclusive practices. Professional Development & Support Design professional development training sessions for all Special Education instructional and non-instructional staff and the Child Study Team. Lead ongoing curriculum development and revision to ensure alignment with New Jersey Student Learning Standards, state mandates, district goals, and emerging best practices. Consult with content area supervisors on inclusion programs. Administer at least two inclusion trainings every school year to inclusion partnerships and support staff as needed. Organize and plan safety and Handle with Care training sessions for special education and general education staff, per policy. Promote a culture of reflective practice, continuous growth, and collaboration among teachers. Disseminate current research, instructional strategies, and trends in Special Education. Program & Resource Management Monitor and observe Special Education programs on an ongoing basis to provide support, recommend adjustments, and ensure that program expectations are consistently met. Support teachers in designing engaging, student-centered learning experiences that foster critical thinking and real world application. Guide staff in effective use of instructional technology, digital resources, and data-driven practices to improve student outcomes. Interview and recommend Special Education instructional and support staff. Develop and prepare building-based instructional budget recommendations for review by the Director of Special Services and School Business Administrator/Superintendent in accordance with established guidelines and timelines. Collaboration & Communication Serve as liaison between the Principal, department staff, and Central Administration to support clear communication and shared goals. Coordinate special services of the school program through: Continual articulation and interaction with the School Counseling Department. Ongoing monthly staff meetings and frequent classroom visitations. Conducting in-service for Special Education staff at least three times annually or as needed or directed. Continual articulation and interaction with the offices of the vice principals and principals. Attendance at monthly meetings with Child Study Team to discuss program issues. Collaborate with other supervisors to support interdisciplinary initiatives, scheduling, and districtwide programs. Assist in building master schedules, room assignments, and staffing recommendations. Organize Special Education parent meetings at least two times annually. Collaborate with the Director of School Counseling to coordinate testing accommodations for students receiving Special Education services on all state-mandated assessments. Partner with school administrators and supervisory staff to ensure that all students—including those placed out of district—are tested appropriately and in full compliance with state requirements. Coordinate transportation of students with special needs with the District Office Special Education administrative assistant. Schedule and facilitate Special Education Department meetings in collaboration with the Supervisors of Special Education in the district. Other duties, assignments, surveys and/or research as deemed appropriate or as directed by the Principal, Director of Special Services and/or Superintendent or his designee.Salary for this position:
Salary based on education and experience, per the Supervisor Salary Guide, starting at $89,525.This position includes the following:
