QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of three (3) years of successful educational leadership, coaching, athletic administration, or related experience preferred. Knowledge of New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) rules, Title IX requirements, student eligibility requirements, and district policies and procedures. Demonstrated knowledge of interscholastic athletics, extracurricular programming, curriculum and program development, and student activities. Experience with budgeting, procurement, inventory management, event operations, and resource allocation. Strong leadership, organizational, communication, conflict resolution, and managerial skills. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, families, community members, and external organizations. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Coaching staff, sponsors, athletic trainers, game management personnel, and other assigned personnel.
JOB GOAL
To provide leadership and oversight of the district's interscholastic athletic and extracurricular programs and ensure all students have equitable opportunities to participate in programs that promote academic success, physical wellness, leadership, sportsmanship, school pride, and positive citizenship. The Athletic Manager will ensure programs operate safely, effectively, and in compliance with district policies, NMPED requirements, and New Mexico Activities Association regulations.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Leadership and Administration Organize, direct, administer, and supervise district athletic and extracurricular programs in accordance with Board policy, NMPED regulations, NMAA requirements, and applicable federal and state laws. Provide leadership and oversight for all athletic programs, activities, and coaches across assigned campuses. Develop and maintain a comprehensive athletic program that promotes student achievement, sportsmanship, equity, and school engagement. Collaborate regularly with principals, coaches, sponsors, transportation, maintenance, business office personnel, and district administration. Establish operational procedures and administrative guidelines governing extracurricular participation. Evaluate and continuously improve athletic programming through stakeholder feedback and data review. Personnel Management Assist with recruitment, selection, onboarding, supervision, mentoring, and evaluation of coaching staff and sponsors. Provide professional development and expectations for coaches related to student safety, eligibility, communication, ethics, and district procedures. Ensure coaching staff maintain required certifications, trainings, and licensure requirements. Recommend staffing adjustments and assignments to the Superintendent and principals. Student Eligibility and Support Establish and monitor academic, behavioral, attendance, and physical eligibility requirements for student participation. Verify student eligibility in accordance with NMAA, district, and state requirements. Ensure completion and maintenance of required student participation documents including physical examinations, insurance forms, athletic agreements, and emergency information. Promote student leadership, character development, and positive sportsmanship. Support student access to post-secondary athletic opportunities and coordinate communication with colleges, universities, and scholarship organizations. Budgeting, Procurement, and Resource Management Develop, administer, and monitor athletic budgets in collaboration with campus administration and business office personnel. Oversee purchasing, procurement, inventory control, equipment replacement schedules, and allocation of athletic resources. Ensure responsible stewardship of district funds and compliance with purchasing procedures. Supervise ticket sales, concession operations, fundraising activities, and associated financial reconciliation procedures. Scheduling and Event Operations Coordinate all athletic schedules, contests, tournaments, and extracurricular events. Arrange transportation, meals, lodging, facilities, officials, medical coverage, security, and operational support for events. Supervise game management operations and ensure adequate staffing and event safety protocols. Coordinate facility usage and practice schedules while maintaining equitable access and Title IX compliance. Oversee arrangements for visiting teams and special events. Student Safety and Compliance Implement procedures to ensure student health, safety, supervision, and emergency preparedness. Administer athletic insurance programs and oversee accident reporting and claim processing. Ensure compliance with Title IX, risk management requirements, and district safety procedures. Maintain records related to injuries, eligibility, participation, awards, and program outcomes. Community Relations and Communication Serve as the district liaison for athletics and extracurricular activities. Maintain effective communication with students, families, staff, community organizations, and media. Promote athletic accomplishments and positive public relations. Address parent and community concerns in a timely and professional manner. Coordinate recognition programs, awards ceremonies, banquets, and celebrations honoring student achievement. Reporting and Accountability Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as requested by administration. Keep the Superintendent and principals informed regarding program operations, concerns, accomplishments, and recommendations. Attend Board meetings, administrative meetings, athletic association meetings, and professional development activities as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
