TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Twelve (12) months
Position Summary/Purpose:
In the Cheektowaga-Sloan UFSD, the faculty and staff are dedicated to creating a positive, student-centered learning environment that recognizes the unique needs and talents of all students by integrating character education with a critical-thinking curriculum. The emphasis is on teaching the whole child to create lifelong learners best prepared for college, career, and beyond.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS
Reports directly to the Principal on daily operational matters, ensuring clear communication and effective management of faculty, staff, facility needs, and student discipline Establishes and sustains a positive school culture, intentionally fostering professional, supportive, and respectful relationships with students, families, faculty, staff, and administration Manages daily student behavior and aligns disciplinary actions with the District's Code of Conduct, prioritizing Restorative Practices, Community Circles, and progressive, alternative approaches to foster a positive school climate Partners with the school counseling team and social worker to champion the social-emotional welfare of all students in grades 6-8, implementing proactive interventions and support systems Communicates directly, transparently, and frequently with parents and guardians regarding a variety of school-related issues, achievements, and student progress Participates in the supervision, formal evaluation, and continuous professional development of faculty and staff as assigned by the Principal Participates in and facilitates collaborative meetings with faculty, grade-level leaders, and child study team meetings to drive instructional excellence Systematically collects and analyzes academic, behavioral, and attendance data to inform school-wide interventions and track student progress Partners with the building principal to oversee daily substitute placements and class coverage, effectively managing personnel shortages with minimal disruption to the school day Possesses exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of de-escalating conflicts and building trust with families Other duties as assigned by the Principal or the Superintendent of Schools and/or her designee
Requirements:
Valid NYS School Building Leader (SBL), or SAS or SDA certificate Master's Degree with emphasis on educational leadership, curriculum development, and supervision Minimum of five years of experience in education, including teaching and building-level leadership, preferably at the secondary level
