Position Type:
Full-Time, 12-Month Position Position Overview The Principal of BuffSci II Middle School serves as the instructional and operational leader of the school, fostering a positive, student-centered learning environment that supports academic excellence, character development, and college and career readiness. The Principal is responsible for overseeing daily school operations, supervising staff, promoting student achievement, and ensuring compliance with school policies and state regulations. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who is passionate about middle school education, committed to equity and student success, and capable of building strong relationships with students, families, and staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide visionary leadership to support the mission and goals of the school. Supervise and evaluate instructional staff and support personnel. Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive school culture. Lead curriculum implementation and instructional improvement initiatives. Monitor student academic performance and implement intervention strategies as needed. Collaborate with teachers to support effective classroom instruction and professional growth. Oversee student discipline and restorative practices. Maintain strong communication with families, community partners, and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal educational requirements. Assist with budgeting, staffing, scheduling, and operational planning. Analyze data to drive school improvement and student outcomes. Support recruitment, hiring, and retention of high-quality staff. Qualifications Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field required. New York State School Building Leader (SBL) certification preferred or required. Minimum of 3-5 years of educational leadership experience preferred. Experience working in urban education and/or charter schools preferred. Strong instructional leadership and staff development experience. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Commitment to equity, diversity, and student achievement.
