Job Overview The coordinator is the initial and primary point of contact for students and families who have any questions regarding accommodations and ADA support services. They are responsible for reviewing confidential documents and establishing reasonable academic accommodations for students who have identified themselves as having a disability and are looking for support to help them be successful in their academic programs. This position is focused on the consistent compliance and coordination of accessibility services and academic accommodation across all (NR, BX, Distance Online Learning, Saint Lucia) campuses. This role needs to be familiar with university's compliance requirements, with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Title III and related federal, state regulations and laws. Provides basic training and technical guidance to a broad group of constituents and manages accessibility services. Serve as the primary liaison between other offices and departments working closely with Student Services, FYE and Academic Services teams . In person/ on-site position splitting time on bothNR and BX Campuses Core Responsibilities:
Monitor and respond to office email at in addition to personal Monroe University email Manage time across competing priorities, responsibilities, multiple deadlines effectively and efficiently paying attention to multiple details dealing with students. Collaborate with administrators, staff, and assist faculty in coordinating test times at the Testing Center. Conduct intake interviews, review processes with students, and collect and store documentation of studentIEP, 504
Plans, evaluations and assessments supporting their requests. Meet with students to identify and plan around test time conflicts and use of the Testing Center and tutoring location and options. Process, scan hard copies, set up and establish accurate and confidential records in Colleague and in 504/ODS Therefore document management system. Make appropriate notes in Student Services SLATE, update 504/ODS information in Colleague. Monitor and update 504/ODS information on Monroe University Web page and marketing materials as needed. Serve as initial investigator of 504/ODS complaints and initiates Grievance Appeals Process when warranted. Work on other projects and all other duties as assigned, supporting the overall needs relating to the 504/ODS Office. Provide and presentations and workshops to dean's, directors, faculty, staff, RA's and regarding the basic ADA 504 information, confidentiality, compliance information with relevant laws, regulations support and accommodations.Skills and Attributes:
Computer knowledge and ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, Google spreadsheets, Google forms, and other computer databases as required. Demonstration of sensitivity and understanding of distinct academic, socioeconomic, societal, ethnic backgrounds, sexual identity, and learning abilities of students. Responsiveness to the needs of students, colleagues, and the University community. Teamwork and collegiality across departments in various work groups to accomplish goals. Productivity and effectiveness in carrying out the position's core responsibilities. Effective communication and ability to engage with students, faculty, staff, and parents of all age groups, backgrounds, sexual identity, and levels of education is crucial. Having active listening as well as having clear written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills are essential for success in this role, managing documentation, accommodation requests, and schedules for multiple students. Management and handling situations where students are in crisis due to disabilities be it physical, mental, emotional, academically or medically related issues with empathy and urgency and coordination of information when appropriate across other offices or departments.Problem-Solving:
Identifying barriers to access and finding creative solutions to address them. Ensuring confidentiality and the privacy of students' disability-related information in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Demonstrate ability to take projects from conception to execution with minimal supervision Ability to Explore current assistive technologies or computer applications that could benefit 504/ADA students.Additionally:

Bachelor's degree is required with working a minimum of 5 years working experience with students with disabilities in a higher education setting Office of Disability Services and other related experience. Master's preferred.
