Full Job Description About Us:
New York Edge is the largest provider of after-school and summer camp programs in New York City public schools. Each year, programs in academics, including STEM, the arts, sports and wellness, and college access, help 40,000 students develop leadership skills and succeed in school. Working parents count on our programs to provide safe and enriching environments for their children.
Summary:
New York Edge is seeking a Part-Time Assistant Director who will assist in the overall administration of the New York Edge After-School Program under the supervision of the After-School Program Director, including but not limited to implementing enrichment activities, theme-based projects, scheduling activities, daily supervision of staff, record keeping and reporting, communicating with parents, and organizing special events. The Assistant Director covers the site in the absence of ASPD under the supervision of the Program Manager.
Schedule:
Monday•Friday (Days/shifts vary depending on site needs, usually 12pm•6pm) This role requires you to be in person.
Pay:
$25•$30/hour
Essential Job Functions:
Directly responsible for the overall supervision of academic counselors and an academic component of the after-school program Prepare alternative activities to implement during homework sessions that complement the academic session Provide a seamless day that aligns homework sessions with day school standards of learning Responsible for leading trips off-site and supervising students and staff for the duration of the entire outing Encourage and lead projects that foster academic, cultural, and artistic growth Provide coverage for activity specialists Promote teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship, including ultimate responsibility for youth behavior at the site and on trips. Communicate the program's challenges, progress, and success with After-School Program Director. Ensures the Afterschool program is compliant with all DYCD, DOE, and DOHMH regulations and timelines and stays abreast of all local, state, and federal pandemic management conditions and requirements. Required Skills:
Able to work late afternoons and/or evenings. Knowledgeable and skilled in Academics, Sports, or Arts programs and have prior experience successfully teaching and instructing youth in Academics, Sports, or Arts. Knowledge of the
New York City Department of Education Qualifications:
Minimum requirement of a Bachelor's Degree or demonstration of actively completing a B.A. Degree. A minimum of one year of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required. The Assistant Director will be required to report to the school building and interact with the Program Director, Staff, School Administration, Parents, and Students.
