Job Description

Supervises the overall daily operations of SBU Graduate Student Services; serves as liaison with our Online Program Management (OPM) partner pertaining to student support. Coordinates SBU student support services with our online partner and internal SBU services including admissions, records, financial aid, corporate partnerships, early assurance, and billing. Directly support students in campus-operated fully online graduate programs. Assist in the support of on-campus graduate programs as needed. Work closely with online partner's support team and SBU graduate admissions to facilitate process of on-boarding new students from admittance through to registered for classes and in Moodle. Communicate new students' financial aid needs and process with online partner. 20 % Facilitate informational needs of students when needed - provide for technological assistance for students in coordination with online partner and other SBU support systems. 10 % Respond to students' concerns (either directly or via the success coaches) and take appropriate actions based upon these concerns. 10% Assess online billing reconciliation for each 7-week session, ensure all students are coded correctly and assigned the correct Revenue Share percentage. Discuss discrepancies with online partner, make adjustments, and meet with CIO to review adjusted billing 10% Work closely with the graduate admissions director to track early assurance students, assist as needed 5% Update best practices and procedures with SBU offices such as financial aid and billing to improve student support 10% Work closely with the graduate dean, program directors, school deans, and registrar regarding dismissals and withdrawals; communicate with online partner. 5% Assist in modification of program course carousels - meet with deans and program directors and OPM to recommend possible changes or additions to course offerings based on student demand. 5% Maintain the online version MySBU, which is specially designed for the online learner. Modify and update all materials, which entails periodically communicating with other departments such as Financial Aid, Registrar's office, and the Bursar, to learn of updates and new forms and publications 5% Meet with program directors and OPM regularly to discuss issues with program/courses/students. 5% Maintain / update SBU Online active student list, working closely with OPM and registrar to make changes, including graduation deferrals, leave of absences, dismissals, etc. 10 % Work with graduate admissions to track corporate partnership students. 5%
Education:
Bachelor's degree preferred
Years of Experience:
Two to three years' experience working with student populations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient in Moodle, our online learning management system. Ability to exercise and apply sound judgment and decision making skills. Familiarity with online graduate program requirements and timelines. Ability to work with multiple offices campus-wide to support online students' needs. Skilled with software use including the Slate CRM, and Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to handle highly confidential material and maintain strict confidence. Ability to work effectively and independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Skilled in exemplary customer service, including dealing effectively with the students, faculty, staff, and vendors. Ability to identify problems and to propose feasible solutions. Strong organizational skills, ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
