Athletic Director Reports to:
Junior High and High School Principals Overview:
The Athletic Director is responsible for the oversight and management of the athletic programs at the Fuchs Mizrachi School (grades 6-12). This includes developing and implementing policies and procedures that align with the school's mission, values, and culture. The Athletic Director also works collaboratively with the coaching staff, parents, and students to ensure a positive and successful experience for all involved.
Key Responsibilities:
Create a culture (including policies and procedures) in which good sportsmanship and exemplary character traits are standard and expected from coaches and players - where sports are being used to help build character, resilience and the values that our school espouses. Recruit, hire, supervise, and mentor coaches for all sports teams. Teach 6 Junior High PE classes and up to 2 high school classes as well as overseeing the program Teach 12 weekly periods of Junior High (separate boys and girls 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes) and 3 weekly periods of high school. Promote student participation, wellness, teamwork, and school spirit through athletics and recreational programming aligned with the school's mission and values. Develop and manage the athletic budget. Develop an approach and student-athlete team fundraising which is clearly communicated early in the school year to parents and students. Maintain and oversee sports facilities and all sports equipment. Coordinate all logistics, including: Scheduling of athletic events and ensuring that all events are properly staffed (e.g. coaches, referees, etc.). Purchasing and maintaining all necessary equipment for the various sports (classes and competitive teams). Coordinating transportation and security as needed Creating the gym schedule for team practices and games. Managing all logistics for team games (buses, fees, league requirements, jerseys, equipment etc…) Establish structures of clear communication for parents and students to be aware of all schedules and any changes. This includes but is not limited to: Clear calendars of all sports teams schedules Team 'chats' (such as Whatsapp) for parents on sports teams to receive up to date information and scheduling changes Updating the Athletic website Work collaboratively with parents, students, and coaches to resolve any issues or concerns related to the athletic programs. Maintain an online sports calendar for all teams' games. Attend or coordinate sports oversight and coverage at all home games.
Ideal Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in physical education, sports management, or a related field. Minimum of three years of experience in athletic administration or coaching. Strong leadership and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently, and collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to pay attention to details. Personal qualities of integrity, kindness, approachability, and a strong work ethic, with a desire for constant personal growth. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
