POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Director of Schools is responsible for the overall management and operation of Sunbeam Family Services directly operated early childhood schools, including sites delivering Head Start and Early Head Start services. This role partners with the Chief Program Officer to ensure consistent, safe, and high-quality school operations. This position provides leadership through direct supervision of Community Directors and supports consistent practice, staffing stability, health and safety, accreditation, and fiscal accountability across all sites. This role supports the implementation of Head Start and Early Head Start requirements at the school level and ensures clear communication and reporting as part of the agency's internal leadership. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide operational oversight of directly operated schools to ensure consistent implementation of Head Start, Early Head Start, state child care licensing, accreditation requirements, and other grant and regulatory requirements at the school level. Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management of Community Directors. Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children, families, and staff across all schools, including emergency preparedness and incident response. Ensure schools meet and maintain NAEYC accreditation standards, where applicable, and support continuous quality improvement efforts. Oversee school-level budgets, expenditures, and financial reports to ensure fiscal accountability and alignment with approved plans. Provide data-driven reports and strategies for efficient and effective service delivery. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners including DHS, OHS, OECP, NAEYC, and the Educare Network to support compliance readiness and strong school operations. Actively participate on the Internal Operations Team and Leadership Team. Represent Sunbeam in community partnerships, collaborations, and special initiatives as assigned. Perform other appropriate and related responsibilities as assigned by supervisor or a member of the Executive Team.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed in this job description are the minimum levels of knowledge, skills, or abilities. Minimally Required Preferred Education Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. Experience Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience overseeing licensed early care and education sites, preferably in a multi-site environment. Experience supporting the implementation and operational requirements of Head Start and Early Head Start services. Experience in staffing leadership, safety oversight, accreditation, and budget management. Experience supporting the implementation of systems and services related to children and families in other settings. Skills Knowledge Abilities Advanced knowledge and understanding of Head Start Program Performance Standards, NAEYC, Childcare Licensing requirements (local and state). Demonstrated well-developed leadership ability, strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to supervise staff in a consistent, supportive and accountable manner. Ability to work and communicate in a professional manner, demonstrating dignity and respect for our internal, external and community members Ability to handle and prioritize a variety of work assignments Ability to exercise initiative, work independently and exercise critical thinking skills Advanced knowledge and understanding of ChildPlus. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft applications and the ability to master other software as needed. Valid Oklahoma driver's license and state required vehicle insurance for any vehicle used in performance of job duties Ability to navigate multiple software systems and curriculums including, but not limited to, Sage, Martus, Teaching Strategies Gold, Devereux Early Childhood Assessment, CLASS, and Conscious Discipline. Bilingual Spanish/English speaking ability to interact with children and families from multilingual homes.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently communicate with staff and others and must be able to exchange accurate information when doing so. must also be able to move throughout classroom and office spaces, operate and use a computer and other office equipment, and occasionally access file cabinets, equipment, and materials. The employee must be able to detect, discern, observe, inspect, and compare information and conditions relevant to child safety and program operations. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, attend meetings, etc. The employee must be able to interact closely and safely with small children in various positions and environments, including communicating verbally with children and performing tasks such as feeding children, changing diapers, lifting children from floor or other surfaces, and assisting with classroom activities. The employee must be able to occasionally move or lift up to 50 pounds. Work Environment The employee will work in an office environment and a school setting.
