Job Description

JOB For best consideration, please submit application materials by May 24, 2026.This is an on-campus position, and the schedule (up to 20 hours per week) will be between the hours of 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.

Basic Job Purpose/FunctionPerforms a wide variety of duties to support daily function in the Student Services Hub; greets visitors and offers help, returns student emails, and assists with virtual chat. Acts as a first point-of-contact to the Student Services Hub. Provides a welcoming experience for visitors seeking assistance and maintains a friendly and professional attitude.

Essential DutiesOffers support and helps teach students to use technical systems such as College and government websites and applications, including but not limited to the MHCC student portal, federal and state financial aid websites, the MHCC bookstore website, and MHCC web financial services payment system.

Explains how to apply for financial aid and provides federal, state, and MHCC-specific information to students and parents regarding financial aid processes and regulations, triaging student questions to Financial Aid Advisors when needed; assists with document intake.

Applies knowledge of College and community support services and facilitates referrals when appropriate.

Collaborates closely with other employees and departments to solve difficult or unusual situations and concerns.

Greets students and visitors and responds to questions about course registration, student records, advising appointments, financial aid, placement testing and general MHCC website navigation, among other topics; delivers high caliber service in-person, on the phone, via email and via live online chat.

Accepts and processes cash payments, posts charges, issues change, processes refunds, and reconciles cash drawers as needed.

Additional DutiesGeneral office duties and light cleaning.

Performs all other duties as assigned.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Minimum QualificationsAssociate's degree or current enrollment in an associate's degree program.

One year of experience similar to the essential duties of the position.

Knowledge of current computer software packages including intermediate-level knowledge of word processing, database, presentation and email applications, and beginning-level knowledge of spreadsheet applications, preferably within the Microsoft Office Suite. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Desired QualificationsBilingual skills with fluency in English and Spanish, Russian, or other language that meets community needs.

Experience working in a college setting within Student Development or Student Services.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Working ConditionsThis is an on-site position. Work is typically performed in a normal office environment working with a variety of people. Work environment is often noisy and crowded with students and staff. Occasional strain to the eyes while working with a computer terminal, in addition to infrequent lifting and carrying of items up to 10 lbs.

Salary PlacementInitial salary placement will be within the posted range or pay rate of the position, and is based on applicable education and/or years of relevant full-time equivalent experience at the sole discretion of the College and in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws. Please include all relevant education and full and part-time experience (including unpaid and volunteer experience) in your application that you want the College to review towards potential placement. Hired employees will not have an opportunity to update past education and/or experience or appeal initial placement after the time of hire.
