GENERAL DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly relational and uniquely qualified, Head of School, who delights in guiding students, staff, and families within a faith-driven educational community. Ideal candidates create structured, supportive school environments where students feel known, valued, and challenged, and where staff are empowered to do their best work. Leaders take ownership of school culture, instruction, and operations, leading with clarity, care, and a commitment to academic excellence and spiritual growth.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Educational Leadership preferred. Teaching and administrative experience preferred. Ability to uphold the school's Statement of Faith.
SKILLS REQUIRED
Strategic leadership and decision-making. Staff supervision and development. Strong communication and decision-making. Organizational oversight.
SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP
Serves as a role model in speech, actions, and attitude consistent with a daily walk with Jesus Christ. Models personal spiritual growth and a relationship with Christ. Demonstrates respect and care for students under all circumstances. Follows Matthew 18 principles when addressing misunderstandings. Accepts and teaches the God-given worth of each student as created in His image. Regularly attends Horizon Community Church.
FULL TIME ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
School Leadership:
Act as the primary visionary, spokesperson, and advocate for the school. Strengthen and maintain relationships between the school, its parents and the local community. Provide resources and oversight to recruit, retain, and support an outstanding administration, faculty, and staff. Work with the school principals to guide the development, enhancement and delivery of all educational programs. Act as a support, sounding board in discipline, and in some cases assist principals in the facilitation of disciplinary decisions. Work with the school administrative team to bring regular training and resources to strengthen the leadership and systematic evaluation of the team's collective and individual growth and progress. Work with the Development Director in plans for future development and improvements.
Development and PR:
Work with Enrollment and Marketing Director to develop comprehensive communications/marketing program for student recruitment, enrollment, and retention. Oversee enrollment efforts including staff facilitating campus tours, open house/Preview Nights, and work with Admissions team to take prospective families from inquiry to enrollment completion. Work with the Lead Pastor, Executive Pastor and School Administrators to create and implement a five-year strategic plan for the school. Establish a strong presence of the school in the community. Work with the School Advisory Team to communicate strategic plans and solicit input for operational plans and future development. Other related duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
