Job Description:
Reporting to the principal and working in collaboration with the Elementary Curriculum Director, the Assistant Principal/Instructional Coach serves as a leader. This hybrid role integrates administrative duties with instructional coaching to enhance teaching quality, drive school improvement, and oversee daily operations. Under the direction of the principal, the Assistant Principal / Instructional Coach serves as an educational leader responsible for assisting in the overall administration, supervision, and instructional leadership of the school. This position supports the principal in managing school operations while also providing instructional coaching and professional learning support to teachers and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Master's degree or higher in Education or related field North Carolina Principal Licensure Valid North Carolina Teaching License
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
School Leadership and Administration Assists the principal in the overall administration and operation of the school. Assumes leadership responsibilities in the absence of the principal. Assists in the planning, development, coordination, and supervision of instructional programs and school activities. Provides leadership to staff in implementing school goals, objectives, and improvement initiatives. Assists with supervision and evaluation of certified and classified staff. Supports hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and development of school personnel. Assists with the development and implementation of school improvement plans. Assists with school scheduling, budgeting, inventory, and resource allocation. Supports compliance with district, state, and federal policies, procedures, and regulations. Assists with supervision of student enrollment, attendance, records, and health requirements. Develops and supports emergency preparedness and school safety procedures. Assists with the coordination and supervision of extracurricular and co-curricular programs. Maintains positive communication with parents, students, staff, and community stakeholders. Supports and promotes a positive school culture focused on student success and staff collaboration. Supports implementation of school discipline policies and procedures. Builds positive relationships with students and families while maintaining high expectations. Assists with student support services and intervention planning. Maintains knowledge of policies, laws, and regulations related to students and school operations. Instructional Leadership and Coaching Supports implementation of district curriculum aligned with North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Assists teachers in improving instructional practices through coaching, modeling, observation, and feedback. Conducts classroom walkthroughs and instructional support visits. Supports teachers and staff in analyzing and utilizing student achievement data to improve instruction. Facilitates Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), grade-level meetings, intervention meetings, and curriculum planning sessions. Coordinates and provides school-based professional development aligned to instructional priorities and student needs. Supports beginning teachers through mentoring and instructional coaching. Assists with the implementation of intervention programs and differentiated instructional supports. Promotes the use of research-based instructional strategies and effective instructional frameworks. Collaborates with district staff and school leadership teams to align instructional resources, assessments, and curriculum supports. Leadership and Professional Responsibilities Participates in district committees, leadership teams, and professional organizations. Maintains ongoing professional growth and supports continuous improvement efforts for staff. Attends and presents at professional conferences and trainings as appropriate. Maintains confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. Performs other duties as assigned by the principal or district administration.
