1 The University of Rio Grande is seeking a full-time Designated School Official (DSO). Reporting to the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO), the Designated School Official (DSO) performs a wide range of duties to support the needs of our international student community, as well as serve as a DSO for US Homeland Security. This includes complying with Department of Homeland Security federal regulations as a DSO for F1 students. This position may work from home (online).Principal Duties:
Along wth the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO), maintains the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and all related (re)certification requirements Issues I-20s for incoming international students Processes employment work approvals (I-20s) for international students on Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Occupational Practical Training (OPT) Advises international students with immigration-related concerns such as optional practical training, curricular training, extension of program, international student health insurance requirements, travel approval and other immigration related concerns Assists with approval and authorization for visa renewals, social security/work approval, driver's license application and other letters required by students for compliance and assists with immigration reporting as required by federal regulations to US Homeland Security Maintains SEVP recordkeeping requirements including relevant information and documents for each F-1 and M-1 student enrolled Stays current with regulatory/legislative rules and regulations, and updates affected international students. Provides accurate visa maintenance information to international student Functions as a liaison between international student recruiting agency (Bridgeway), CommuniCare (corporate partner) and University departments including Admissions, MSN Program, Athletics, and PDSO. Monitors and tracks student immigration statuses, and maintains appropriate files.Position Qualificaitons:
Associate's degree with a minimum of 2-3 years of administrative support or relatred experience required (Bachelor's degree preferred) Must have U.S. Citizenship or lawful permanent residence for the purpose of SEVIS/the university's Exchange Visitor Program to meetRO/ ARO/ PDSO/ DSO
