The Teacher on Assignment for Student Activities and Athletics provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of the school's extracurricular programs, including athletics, clubs, and student activities. This position supports student engagement, ensures compliance with district policies and applicable regulations, promotes equitable access to programs, and fosters positive school culture through student involvement.PRINCIPAL DUTIES
(essential functions) Coordinate, supervise, and support student activities, clubs, and athletic programs. Develop, implement, and evaluate extracurricular programs aligned to district goals and student needs. Create, manage, and communicate annual activities (example: Community Festival) and athletic calendars. Support student clubs and organizations, including the process for approval of activities and events. Assist with selection, supervision, and evaluation of coaches and activity sponsors. Ensure athletic programs comply with district policies, governing body rules (e.g., AIA), and safety regulations. Coordinate game schedules, transportation, facilities use, and supervision. Oversee athletic eligibility procedures and student participation requirements. Promote inclusive participation and equitable access to student activities and athletics. Encourage positive student leadership development and school spirit initiatives. Supervise student events, assemblies, games, and activities assigned. Ensure compliance with district procedures related to student supervision, safety, and conduct. Assist with emergency action plans for athletic events and large student activities. Support required training for coaches and sponsors (e.g., CPR/First Aid, concussion awareness). Communicate expectations, schedules, and procedures clearly and consistently. Collaborate with administration, coaches, and sponsors. Assist with development and monitoring of activity and athletic budgets. Contribute to a positive, safe, and inclusive school climate Support staff in maintaining consistent expectations across settings Perform additional duties as assigned by administrationKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Ability to travel to multiple work locations, as assigned. Proficiency with computers and applicable software. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret behavioral and program data. Knowledge of Arizona state law and district policies and procedures. Knowledge of human growth and development. Knowledge of effective behavior supports discipline practices. Ability to effectively communicate and work with staff, families, and the community.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate Knowledge of interscholastic athletics and/or student activities Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, staff, families, and community members Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills Bachelor's degree in education or related fieldPREFERRED
Valid Arizona Administrative Certificate Experience supervising athletics, clubs, or extracurricular programs Coaching experience Experience with budgeting and program coordinationTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Ten months. Salary and work year to be established by the Board (Certified Staff Placement Schedule and Work Calendar). Evening, weekend, and non-contract hours may be required for events and competitions. Telecommute eligibility established by the Governing Board in accordance to PoliciesGCC & GDD. EVALUATION
