JOB GOAL
The Assistant Principal serves as an instructional leader and member of the school's administrative team, supporting the Principal in fostering a positive, safe, inclusive, and high-achieving middle school learning environment. The Assistant Principal provides leadership in curriculum, instruction, assessment, student support services, school culture, and operational management to promote academic excellence, social-emotional growth, and equitable outcomes for all students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Collaborates with the Principal to provide leadership for the continuous improvement of teaching, learning and student achievement at the middle school level. 2. Supports the implementation of district curriculum, instructional practices, assessment systems and school improvement initiatives aligned with Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) standards and district goals. 3. Assists in the supervision, support and evaluation of certified and non-certified staff in accordance with district procedures and educator evaluation systems. 4. Utilizes student achievement, attendance, behavioral and climate data to identify needs, monitor progress, and support data-informed decision-making. 5. Promotes and supports Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Response to Intervention (RTI) and other academic and behavioral intervention programs designed to improve student outcomes. 6. Assists in developing and maintaining a positive school culture that promotes student engagement, belonging, accountability and respect. 7. Oversees student attendance initiatives, monitors chronic absenteeism and collaborates with families, counselors, social workers, and community agencies to improve student attendance and engagement. 8. Assists in the administration of student discipline in accordance with district policies, state regulations, restorative practices and positive behavioral interventions. 9. Supervises student conduct and safety in all school settings, including transportation, cafeterias, hallways, assemblies, extracurricular activities, athletic events and school-sponsored functions. 10. Supports the planning and coordination of school schedules, including student scheduling, testing schedules, supervision schedules and special events. 11. Collaborates with curriculum coordinators, instructional coaches and teacher leaders to support professional learning and instructional improvement efforts. 12. Assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of school improvement plans and strategic initiatives. 13. Participates in the preparation and monitoring of school budgets and assists with the procurement, inventory, and management of instructional materials, technology, and equipment. 14. Supports the implementation of state and district assessment programs and ensures compliance with testing procedures and reporting requirements. 15. Builds positive partnerships with students, families, staff and community organizations to advance school goals and support student success. 16. Assists in the development, revision, and implementation of student, staff and family handbooks, school procedures, and administrative protocols. 17. Coordinates and supervises extracurricular programs, student activities and school events to ensure safe and meaningful student participation. 18. Maintains current knowledge of educational research, middle level best practices, state and federal regulations, and emerging trends in school leadership through ongoing professional learning. 19. Demonstrates strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills while maintaining a visible and positive presence throughout the school community. 20. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal. 21. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
210 days. Salary to be established by the School Committee.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Bristol Warren Regional School Committee's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
