REQUIREMENTS
Certification required by South Dakota, significant administrative experience, excellent oral, written and interpersonal relationship skills, demonstrated educational leadership qualities.
JOB SUMMARY
Assists the principal with educational leadership and building management in meeting the mission of the district and middle school.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides leadership in the area of curriculum and instruction. Evaluates and assesses curriculum and instruction for the purpose of improving student leaning and meeting the mission of the middle school. Provides assistance to staff members and participates in efforts to improve instruction and create a school based on the effective schools research. Monitors student attendance and enforces procedures and statutes to encourage regular attendance at school. Administers the disciplinary guidelines and maintains student disciplinary records. Plans, organizes and implements effective student registration. Participates in long range planning for the school. Works with and encourages parental involvement in student learning and the school in general. Recommends changes in curriculum to benefit students. Recommends staffing assignments to enhance student learning. Other duties as assigned by the principal.

Climate Environment:
Typically, work is conducted in a comfortable environment. Some District work areas are not climate controlled and are subject to extremes of temperature and humidity.
Hazards:
For some buildings, stairs, chalk dust and exposure to communicable diseases may be a potential hazard. Travel between schools will cause exposure to hazardous driving and walking conditions.
