JOB SUMMARY
The Oak Ridge School System seeks applicants for the position of Administrator for Secret City Academy. SCA is in the Oak Ridge community, on the campus near Oak Ridge High School, located within the Knoxville, Tennessee metropolitan area. The school serves students in 1st through 12th grade with a faculty of 15 staff members. The Administrator for Secret City Academy provides instructional leadership and administrative oversight for Oak Ridge Schools' alternative education program. This position is responsible for ensuring a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment that meets the academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and transition needs of students served through alternative education placements. The Administrator ensures compliance with district, state, and federal requirements and leads continuous improvement efforts aligned with district goals. The Secret City Academy Administrator is a twelve-month position with twenty-four (24) paid vacation days and ten (10) paid holidays. Salary ranges for this position are based on the
FY'27 HS
Asst Principal Salary Schedule are $104,751 - $136,176. Salary will be negotiated within the prescribed range and will take into consideration training and experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide instructional leadership for the alternative education program in alignment with Oak Ridge Schools' policies, curriculum standards, and strategic priorities. Supervise, support, and evaluate certificated and classified staff assigned to Secret City Academy. Monitor student academic performance, attendance, behavior, and progress toward graduation; analyze data to inform instructional and programmatic decisions. Ensure implementation of effective instructional, intervention, and behavior support strategies appropriate for alternative education settings. Support credit recovery, career readiness, postsecondary planning, and transition services for students. Support and grow R3 (Reflect, Repair, Restore) program in coordination with base schools, which allows students who have been suspended out of school the option to serve their OSS in a structured program instead of being at home. Serve as an administrator of Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams and ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and related regulations. Assist in the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans and restorative practices consistent with district expectations and best practices. Ensure compliance with all Oak Ridge Schools Board policies and Tennessee Department of Education and federal laws and regulations. Oversee the completion and maintenance of required records, reports, and documentation. Lead staff professional learning aligned with alternative education, instructional improvement, trauma-informed practices, and student supports. Foster positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners. Maintain visibility within the school and actively engage with students, staff, and families. Participate in district leadership meetings, training, and committees as assigned. Maintain confidentiality and always demonstrate sound professional judgment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold a minimum of a master's degree and valid Tennessee Administrative License. Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience as a school administrator, teacher leader, or alternative education, student support, or behavioral programs. Preferred experience working in alternative education programs or non-traditional school settings. Knowledge of special education law, behavior intervention systems, and student discipline procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of TN curriculum, assessment, intervention, and progress monitoring strategies. Implement and support the PLC process and utilize various forms of data to enhance teacher collaboration and student learning outcomes. Understanding of best practices in alternative education and behavior support. Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, families, and community partners.
