Full Job Description Primary Purpose:
The Assistant Superintendent serves as a Superintendent-in-Training who provides high-level leadership across multiple school districts. The role is designed to manage the day-to-day operations of Human Resources, Student Services, and Special Programs while mastering the executive skills needed to eventually run an entire school system.Qualifications:
Education/Certification Master's degree required Texas teaching certification required Texas Superintendent certification preferred Texas principal certification required Skills Minimum of 2 years successful principal/assistant principal experience required Experience appraising teachers and support staff required Central Office experience preferredKnowledge of:
Coaching, modeling, and providing feedback on performance, with an emphasis on identifying and problem-solving through implementation barriers across wide and diverse circumstances; In-depth knowledge of instructional leadership practices that lead to improved teaching and learning; In-depth knowledge of data-driven practices, lesson planning and formative assessment, observation and feedback, school culture, and change management; Knowledge of district practices that impede as well as empower leadership; The accountability system and the necessary actions and measurable progress required to meet state standards.Skill in:
Long-term planning and project management, tracking progress, analytical thinking, conceptual thinking, root cause analysis; Adult learning and professional development design and delivery.Ability to:

Provides multiple districts with hands-on coaching in instructional and student services to ensure every classroom is set up for success. Uses data to identify where students are struggling and works directly with district staff to implement changes that improve student outcomes. Ensures that teaching materials and methods across both districts meet state standards and the needs of all learners. Supports two districts in recruiting, hiring, and keeping high-quality teachers and Handles complex personnel issues, including evaluations, contract renewals, and resolving staff grievances or conflicts fairly. Acts as a mentor to campus principals, helping them grow as leaders and managers of their own buildings. Regularly checks in with staff and looks at performance data to figure out what training is missing for teachers and administrators. Uses expert knowledge to create and lead engaging professional development sessions that actually work in a real classroom. Sets and meets high personal goals by staying current on the latest educational research and seeking feedback from peers and supervisors. Assists with school board preparations and attends meetings for both districts to learn the "politics" and transparency of school leadership. Travels regularly between the Region 16 Education Service Center and multiple districts to provide face-to-face support. If not currently certified as a Superintendent, the employee must be willing to obtain Texas Superintendent Certification Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the director A functioning cell phone means that it is charged, activated, messages checked, and mailbox emptied regularly Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the ESC strategic plan Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies, processes, and procedures Manages time, calendar, and job responsibilities to meet deadlines Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor Performs other duties as assignedSimilar jobs in Amarillo, TX
