MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES
The primary duties this employee are to oversee and supervise the overall operation the schools in the district.
QUALIFICATIONS
EducationCertification:
Master's degree; Doctorate degree preferred Appropriate valid Texas administrator certification Certified instructional supervisor and appraiser in Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System and Texas Principal Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS; T-PESS)
Experience:
Minimum years successful teaching experience Minimum years experience in instructional leadership roles as a principal or above Minimum years experience at the district senior leadership level as director or above preferred Ability to manage budget and personnel Ability to implement policy and procedures Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
General KnowledgeSkills:
Ability to apply personal computer and spreadsheet skills Ability to speak on demand to large groups people Ability to apply knowledge current research and theory in specific field Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students and school community Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with campus leadership Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication Ability to perform duties with awareness all district requirements and Board policies
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Instructional Management:
. Coordinates with the Chief Academic Officer to administer the district's instructional program. . Supervises and evaluates district principals through T-PESS . Guides the formulation a philosophy and objectives for the instructional program. . Ensures that the instructional program is sensitive to the needs "at risk" students. . Coordinates with the Chief Academic Officer to revise school policies relating to the district's instructional program. . Ensures campus leadership is achieving academic success, including performance on the State Texas Assessment Academic Readiness (STAAR). . Leverage C&I staff and special program personnel to support principals and improve instructional effectiveness. . Success in this role is directly tied to campus outcomes, with the expectation that at least % of assigned schools meet their established improvement targets annually.
SchoolOrganizational Climate:
. Provides for a collaborative decision-making system so that educational programs can be fashioned by those closest to the action to meet the unique needs individual campuses. . Recognizes and reinforces excellence in campus performance using various academic indicators.

Assistant Superintendent School Leadership . Develops and coordinates a comprehensive evaluation system designed to determine the effectiveness the instructional programs at individual campuses. . Assists campuses with the improvement instruction in areas identified as deficient by the formal performance indicators.
Personnel Management:
. Monitors the implementation and coordination a formal evaluation process for campus-based administrators. . Supervises the administrative intern mentorship. . Works with the Department Human Resources and campus principals to staff the district's schools effectively and efficiently. . Collaborates with the Chief Schools to establish performance expectations for each campus. . Allocates time across campuses based on need, with the majority time dedicated to schools requiring significant improvement, as identified through district data and the Chief Schools.
Administration and FiscalFacilities Management:
. Advises the superintendent on the selection, placement, assignment, performance, and contractual status campus administrators. . Guides the district professional development training for administrators. . Works with the Chief Academic Officer to provide the necessary resources to schools so that district and campus goals can be achieved. . Coordinates the development and administration the campus budget and ensures that all campus spending plans are based on established priorities.
Student Management:
. Acts as hearing officer for all appeals related to instructional issues. . Assists campuses with the compliance the Student Code Conduct Manual.
SchoolCommunity Relations:
. Works with advisory committees, community agencies, and area businesses to provide programs consistent with the needs the learners. . Coordinates the hearing process for parent concerns originating from the campuses
Professional Growth and Development:
. Takes the initiative to refine needed professional skills through reading, attending in-service training, and working on professional committees and conferring with other educators. . Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner. . Follows effective verbal and written communication with all stakeholders. Forms of communication may include but are not limited to phone calls (cell phone and land line), email, memos, newsletters, etc. . Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies the GCCISD safety program. . Supports the goals and objectives the school district and follows all district policies. . Support the district's social media efforts that highlight the hard work our students and staff as well as increase communication with all stakeholders (i.e. direct your X followers to newspapers, TV segments, and Twitter posts that feature campus and district accomplishmentsnews). . Demonstrates the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district operations. . Demonstrates a high level independent, ethical, and professional conduct. . Provides optimal customer service to all students, employees, parents, community members and any other stakeholders the district. . Other duties as assigned.

. Evaluate assigned principals. . Provide feedback with clear expectations and goals. . Provide recommendations on staff assignments based on qualitative and quantitative data. . Monitor and visit campuses regularly.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Mental Demands:
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions; maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical DemandsEnvironmental Factors:
